New year, new makeup trend (sorry, I had to).

And as someone who loves shiny new things, I'm always ready to take them on.

So if you love routine and hate taking the plunge, don't worry, I'm here to do it for you so you don't have to (except with this one… you're gonna wanna).

In the warmer weather, I've begun seeing similar makeup videos on my TikTok feed all doing the same trend— the glazed donut blush trend.

Unfortunately, no, this doesn't involve edible sweet treats. It does, however, involve my new favourite way to do my blush.

So what is the glazed donut blush trend?

To do this trend, you need two products. A liquid highlighter and a liquid blush. Most of the beauty influencers who've come across my social feeds have been using Rare Beauty for both products. I, however, changed it up a little bit.

For this, I admit that I did end up grabbing my Rare Beauty soft pinch liquid blush in the shade 'worth' (it's literally my favourite)— you can get it at Sephora for $45.

For my highlight, I used the E.l.f Beauty Halo Glow highlight in the shade 'champagne campaign' — it's available at Priceline for $24.

The trend is super easy. You take your liquid highlighter and make a circle the size of a two-dollar coin just above the apples of your cheeks. Don't forget to fill it in.

You then take your blush, and you just dab a dot right in the middle of your highlight circle so it looks like a donut. Depending on how pigmented your blush is, you can do a little bit more— but make sure you stay within that donut shape.

You then take your blush brush or beauty blender and blend the products out towards your temple and across your cheek bones — basically anywhere you normally put your highlight and blush.

The result is supposed to be a super glowy, sun-kissed sunset blush look.

The verdict.

This trend is an easy 10/10 for me. I've already incorporated it into my everyday makeup routine. It's so easy and if you get confused about where to place certain products on your face (guilty), this just makes it super clear.

I was a bit nervous on my first go and I do think I could've used more product to make it look more obvious in photos. In person, however, I promise you, she was blushing, and I am super chuffed with the results. This is also a great way to experiment using different blush and highlight shades and brands on your face to see what combos suit you the best.
