Donald Trump slams embarrassing 'insider' report about his two weeks in office.

Donald Trump has slammed an embarrassing behind-the-scenes report into his first two weeks in office as “total fiction”.

The New York Times article, which relies on anonymous accounts from government officials, congressional aides and other insiders, paints an unflattering picture of Trump’s time in the White House so far.

Among the claims within the front page feature that have irked the US president is that he likes to watch TV in a dressing gown.

The news story, titled ‘Trump and Staff Rethink Tactics After Stumble’ also describes Mr Trump ranting in his bathrobe and fumbling in the dark as his staff struggling to turn on the lights in some rooms.

Unsurprisingly, Trump chose to take to Twitter to once again attack a news outlet that printed negative views of him.

The 70-year-old accused the New York Times of “making up” sources and stories.

His press secretary Sean Spicer defended the president, telling reporters the story was full of “blatant factual errors”, The Hill reports.

“That report was so riddled with inaccuracies and lies that they owe the president an apology,” he said.

One of those errors Spicer pointed to was the president’s ownership of a bathrobe.

“I don’t think the president owns a bathrobe; he definitely doesn’t wear one,” he said.

Note to Mr Spicer, if you’re going to claim someone doesn’t own an item of clothing, maybe make sure there aren’t dozens of images of him wearing it first.

According to the New York Times expose, Trump’s aide Steve Bannon works 16-hour days, while the president finishes at 6.30pm.

The article also describes Trump’s small team as being inexperienced.

It says the crew consists of “no more than a half-dozen empowered aides with virtually no familiarity with the workings of the White House or federal government”.
