The doll with a penis that broke the internet.

There is a doll that is freaking out customers in the US.

A sweet baby blue powdery smelling plastic package of wholesomeness – until you un-peel the layers.

Customers are in shock –  all in a tizz about its inappropriateness.

Some go as far as saying “Little girls should not be shown that on dolls. The company makes me sick.”

The big deal – is a tiny penis.

According to The Huffington Post mothers are posting pictures of the doll’s anatomically correct body parts and losing the plot over how it is going to damage their child.

Many are even demanding the doll come with a warning label.

(Warning: this doll may cause uptight Facebook users to explode).

“Moms” say the doll should come with a warning

The doll – from Toys R Us – comes complete with the ability to pee right out of that plastic penis and to cry when his little nappy is wet. Just like a real baby except he can’t pee in your face.

‘Doll-gate’ began when a mother from the US bought the blue “You & Me Change My Diaper Doll” for her daughter.

Her Facebook post said it all:

“I took my daughter to buy a new baby at toys r us. And she was so excited to find a baby boy doll because it was dressed in blue. But when she went to change his diaper, this was the surprise. Why?? These r little girls that don’t need to know the anatomy,” she wrote.

The outrage grew:

“O Wow!!!,” wrote Betty Grooms Huff in reply to the post. “Packaging should be more specific so parents can make the choice whether or not it’s appropriate for their child. It’s kinda late to take it back now that she’s already been exposed to seeing that. I mean the damage is done and it left you having to explain things sooner than you wanted to.”

As the post went viral mothers weighed in on their opinion. “This is nuts” wrote one.

Others were more circumspect.

“How on earth is it inappropriate for a child to see a naked baby?” Monica Beyer wrote for SheKnows. What about a baby makes a penis or a vulva dirty or sexual?”

And here it is…

“Really? It’s a penis, it’s a vulva — one on a baby is not going to kill you and it’s definitely not going to turn your child into a pervert,”

“Some people have them, others have something else. Hiding these body parts away is an element of a larger issue — that we are ashamed of our bodies, and that even babies are shameful.”

Sexologist Dr. Logan Levkoff told The Huffington Post banning the word penis is a parenting fail and if we don’t have universal names for body parts, it may be hard for children to tell their parents when these body parts hurt.

As the call to have the doll banned continues, others have pointed out that the most controversial thing about this doll is the annoying cry destined to drive parents totally mad.

Would you buy this doll for your child?
