After the wildfires destroyed their home, Madison waited for his owner for four weeks.

Last month blazes tore through California.

Homes and national parks were reduced to ashes, and 85 people lost their lives.

But Madison, an Anatolian shepherd in Northern California, miraculously survived.

When the fire began to spread, his owner Andrea Gaylord was unable to return home to check on Madison. Until the ban on returning home was lifted, all she could do was hope that her pet was okay.

Four weeks passed, and a volunteer from K9 Paw Print Rescue, Shayla Sullivan, reportedly saw the dog in a Canyon several times, guarding the property.

In hope that the dog would return, she put out food, water, and an article of clothing that smelt like his owner.

She had already found Madison’s brother Miguel in a nearby city.

When Andrea Gaylord returned to the ashes of her property, Madison was, by some sort of miracle, waiting.

“WELL, I’m so HAPPY to report that Andrea was allowed to return to her property today and THERE MADISON WAS!!!! He had stayed to protect what was left of his home, and NEVER gave up on his people!” reported the volunteer in a Facebook post, reported by The Washington Post.

Speaking to ABC10 radio, Madison’s owner said she was elated that her dog had waited for her, even though she is homeless now.

“Imagine the loyalty of hanging in through the worst of circumstances and being here waiting… You could never ask for better animals,” she said.

The video of the reunion between Andrea Gaylord, Miguel and Madison was very wholesome.
