'Side-eyeing Chloe' went viral at two years old. This is her life now.

It's easily one of the most recognisable internet memes of the last decade. A blonde little girl giving her parents the ultimate side-eye from her car seat, after being surprised with a trip to Disneyland.

The iconic moment spawned reaction memes for years to come and honestly, is still the perfect reaction for… pretty much everything.

The viral sensation completely changed Chloe Clem's life. She's now a teenager. I know, I know — where did the time go?

This is what she's up to now.

Behind the side-eye Chloe meme.

In 2010, mum Katie Clem decided to surprise her daughter Lily with a Disneyland trip for her sixth birthday.

A bright-eyed Lily opens a new pink princess backpack to find it packed with Disney movies, pyjamas and treats. When mum finally breaks the news, she absolutely loses it. We're talking tears, hugs, the works.

"Are we joking?" Lily says in the viral video.

With family all over the country, Katie figured the easiest way to capture the surprise was to upload the video to YouTube for them to see.

"I made the video, saw her reaction and I just loved it. I did not think for one second that it would go viral," she told Buzzfeed in 2019.

But the internet absolutely loved it.

Fast-forward to 2013, and Katie wanted to surprise Lily with another trip to Disneyland.

"It's been two years, I really didn't think we'd be able to get her again," Katie said.

But once again, Lily was overcome with emotion and broke down crying at the news she would be back in her favourite place on Earth. But this time, it was her little sister Chloe who stole the show.

Let's just say she was a little underwhelmed.

"Chloe made the face, which she always made, every day, it was nothing new," Katie said.

"I accidentally became a meme," Chloe added.

Life since the meme.

Since 2013, the video has amassed more than 24 million views and spawned a meme we can all relate to.

Sometimes a little bit too well.

Chloe's Instagram account, run by Katie, has clocked more than 626,000 followers.

In 2017, the family visited Brazil and popped into the Google office in São Paulo, where Chloe was somewhat of a superstar.

"It was insane. She had billboards all over São Paulo," Katie told People this year.

Ten years on from the viral moment, Chloe recreated her famous side-eye.

The viral meme completely transformed life as the Clem family knew it.

They own the image outright, meaning they have been able to monetise it for commercial use. Katie said it happened at a time when the family was financially struggling and allowed them to stay afloat.

"That money literally helped us survive for a decade. Every ounce of the money, aside from saving it and putting it away, was helping us get through our life. Rent, bills, food," she told People.

The profits supported them when David lost his job and helped them buy a car. In recent years, they've been able to set some aside to save for Chloe's education.

After Chloe's sudden fame, the Clems began documenting more of their family life on YouTube, uploading short clips such as "Lily and Chloe enjoying the fall leaves".

Eventually, they began creating more formally edited content for family milestones.

However, by the end of 2020, the content dropped off and since then, they've only posted two videos: one in July 2021 and more recently in June 2024.

Katie told People she noticed her children's enthusiasm for the content fading and decided to stop.

While she says there were never any "red flags", she acknowledges her then-young daughters never agreed to participate in the videos, being children.

"In the beginning, it was really fun... You just hop on this train and you say yes to everything," she told the publication. "I did not include my kids' consent at all in the beginning. We just did it because you get wrapped up in all of the things."

"Eventually, it got too much with my kids, and I just felt like no one was benefiting from it."

In the end, Katie said she realised she did not want everyone having access to her kids, and their happiness was what mattered most.

What is Chloe Clem up to now?

Our favourite sassy toddler is now 14!

And while Chloe no longer resembles her gap-toothed two-year-old self the internet came to love, she says she looks back on her time as a viral sensation with pride.

"I'm in the What Do You Meme game, so I would always bring my card from that game to show people. It's super cool," she told People.

The teenager celebrated her birthday last month at none other than Disneyland. It's only fitting, right? Although this time, she seemed a tad more excited about the experience.

As for her future, Chloe actually sees herself in the social media space and likes the idea of creating content on YouTube and Instagram. Talk about a full circle moment.

Let's be real, in a world of fleeting internet fame, Chloe's unimpressed little face has stood the test of time. And honestly? We're still using that meme to express our feelings about everything from Monday mornings to our friend's questionable dating choices.

Side-eye forever, queen. Side-eye forever.
