Heard about eyebrow threading before but don’t know if it’s for you? Unsure what the difference between eyebrow threading and waxing is? Scared about someone coming at your face with a long strip of string? Well, fear not.
We spoke to Sydney-based eyebrow threader Suzi Baker to find out exactly what’s involved, where the practice comes from, and how much it costs.
What is threading and where did it originate?
Threading is a fast and gentle hair removal process which originated in the Middle East over 1000 years ago. It was traditionally practised on brides the night before their wedding as a sign that they had reached womanhood.
How does it work?
Threading utilises a piece of antibacterial cotton thread which is twisted back and forth along the skin, grasping facial hair at the root and removing every single hair.

Why should I try threading?
As well as being precise, gentle on the skin and long-lasting, facial threading boasts a number of anti-ageing benefits, which result in a smooth, radiant and youthful looking complexion.
What areas of the body can be threaded?
Threading is most commonly used to remove facial hair on the upper lip, eyebrows, forehead, sideburns, chin and neck. It can also be used on the arms.
What are the benefits of threading?
Threading stimulates the production of natural collagen by encouraging blood circulation to the surface of the skin. This, in turn, plumps out the face and removes dark shadows which cast years over the complexion, leaving a bright and glowing finish.
