This is the last person who should be talking about Diddy.

Controversial public figure Russell Brand has taken it upon himself to share his opinion on Sean 'Diddy' Combs.

The disgraced rapper is currently being held in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Centre and is facing federal charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Over 150 victims have filed lawsuits alleging sexual assault, rape and exploitation. The music mogul's trial is set for 2025, he faces life imprisonment if convicted, and he has denied all allegations.

Considering the seriousness of these charges, one would think that now would not be the time for a certain Get Him To The Greek co-star to rear his ugly head, but that's exactly what Russell Brand has done.

The former comedian shared in a video blog that he had attended Diddy's parties while married to Katy Perry. These notorious parties featured sex workers, drugs and explicit activities. The 'freak-offs' were often held after Diddy's popular celebrity parties, and are now central to federal sex trafficking charges.

Brand maintains that he never got too mixed up in the parties. "I spent most of the time talking to Tom Green and I left about 7 o'clock because I was married at the time," referring to his marriage to Perry that lasted between 2010 and 2012.

"I'm glad I did as it turns out there was stuff that went on that I was not qualified to handle as a person that is craving a deep and profound connection to God. When denied that connection to God, I'll make all sorts of ridiculous choices."

Brand attributes his faith to why he claims he abstained from any morally questionable activities.

"I told you about the time I went to Vegas with Diddy. And I went home early and had a little Diddy party on my own. Which was actually above board and legit. Thank you heavenly Father for being there with me even at the moments in my life where I felt most vulnerable and exposed," he said.

"How would you do if back in the day you were invited to a Diddy party?" he asked his followers.

Hmmmmm. OKay.

A gentle reminder: back in September 2023, Channel 4 and The Sunday Times published claims by four women of being sexually assaulted or raped by Brand during his height of fame between 2006 and 2013.

The accusers were not identified.

As recently as this month, British police handed over a file of evidence to prosecutors so they can consider whether to charge him over past sexual assault offences.

The Crown Prosecution Service said they "have been passed a file by the police to consider a charging decision in this case. Any decision to charge is made independently, based on the evidence and in line with our legal test."

According to detectives from London's Metropolitan Police, Brand has been interviewed three times over alleged "non-recent sexual offenses."

"Our investigation continues and a file has now been passed to the CPS," said Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy.

"We have a team of dedicated officers providing specialist support to the women who have come forward. We are committed to investigating sexual offenses, no matter how long ago they are alleged to have taken place."

The author has long denied the allegations, claiming that all his relationships were "always consensual."

In the past year, Brand's YouTube channel was demonetised and he has increasingly become more religious in his online messaging.
