DIARY OF A SEX WORKER: 'I make $17,000 a week. Here is what each day looks like.'

In our subscriber exclusive series 'Diary of a Sex Worker', Mamamia is asking sex workers to pull back the curtain on their careers. This week, 34-year-old Blaire gives us a glimpse into her life as a full-service sex worker. With nearly 10 years of experience under her belt, Blaire — who is based in Victoria — brings in an income of $150,000. This is her story.

I've been part of the vibrant world of sex work for almost a decade now. But what I do today looks pretty different from when I first started out.

Now that I've purchased a property away from the city, I meet clients less than I once did — about three to four times a week. I also travel interstate about once a month, for a few days at a time, to meet with clients. It's a luxury not everyone in the industry has, and the privilege isn't lost on me.

When I'm not with clients, I'm using my business degree to work on my most rewarding venture yet: Ivy Societe, a directory for independent escorts. It's a space where my fellow sex workers feel valued, supported and celebrated.

Here's what a typical week in my life looks like:

Monday.

This week, I'm preparing to travel to Sydney to reconnect with regular clients and meet a new client. Today is dedicated to tying up last-minute administrative tasks for my 'Blaire' persona and advancing work on Ivy Societe, as my availability will be limited for the rest of the week.

I'm fortunate to have built a strong brand that allows me to be booked in advance. Having visited Sydney frequently, I'm grateful to have established connections with some wonderful regular clients.

Total income for the day: Unspecified.

Tuesday.

Tuesday is a travel day, which means packing — something I've mastered as a professional carry-on-only packer. Travel can involve either catching a flight or driving to the new city, and I like to use this time to unwind by reading or listening to a podcast.

I prefer to take it easy on travel days, typically arranging just one booking to ensure I'm well-rested. I truly admire workers who can hit the ground running with a full day of work upon arrival.

After arriving at my hotel, I unpack and quickly get ready for a dinner date with a new client.

Total income for the day: $3,000

Wednesday.

I like to start my day with a gym session or a walk, followed by a light breakfast to energise myself. Prioritising long bookings is key for me, and I maintain a two-hour minimum. On this trip, I have a mix of lunch and dinner dates, as well as a two-hour couple's booking.

After my workout and breakfast, I spend some time working on Ivy Societe before getting ready for my lunch date. My beauty routine is simple: I no longer wear eyelash extensions, get regular hair colouring, or get coloured manicures. A quick hair wash and curl, along with a touch of tinted moisturiser, blush and mascara, and I'm ready to go.

Today's lunch date is a bit unconventional. Rather than the usual order of enjoying a meal first and heading back to the hotel for "dessert" (AKA bedroom fun), we decided to play first and then go to lunch. Honestly, I prefer it this way. Who wants to feel bloated before rolling around in bed?

After the booking, I have a three-hour break, which I use to catch up on Ivy Societe admin tasks. Although we have a team of five, I handle all customer relations and management. Currently, we're working on developing and marketing new features, so my time is spent collaborating on strategy.

Later, I freshen up for my dinner date with a lovely regular. Our evening flows so effortlessly that he decides to extend our booking by an extra hour (once we start chatting, we can never seem to stop).

Total income for the day: $7,000.

Thursday.

Today begins with some early admin work for Ivy Societe, knowing I won't have much time to spare later. The day is packed with an extended lunch date, a two-hour couple's booking, and dinner with some friends.

For the lunch date, my client suggests a walk around the Sydney Opera House — a nostalgic experience since I haven't done that since childhood. It's funny how often we visit cities (I've been to Sydney countless times for work) without ever doing anything touristy unless a client suggests it.

I genuinely enjoy activities like walks, museums and events with clients. One of my favourite dates was attending an interactive theatre event with a client. It was unforgettable!

After our walk, we enjoyed lunch together and then headed back to his hotel for some fun.

Later, I returned to my hotel to freshen up before meeting a lovely couple I've seen a few times before. I truly enjoy these experiences. In the past, I didn't believe in monogamy and leaned more toward polyamory. However, meeting wonderful couples who demonstrate how a loving, monogamous relationship can include shared adventures like threesomes has been eye-opening and rewarding. I feel privileged to be part of their connection.

During our time together, we share some wine, catch up on life since we last met, and then indulge in some playful intimacy.

To wrap up the day, I get ready to meet some industry friends for dinner. The industry is such a supportive and vibrant community, and I'm incredibly grateful for the lifelong friendships I've formed through this work.

Total income for the day: $5,500

Friday.

A regular reaches out to me last minute, and I manage to squeeze in a 90-minute booking before checking out of my hotel. Afterwards, I head to the airport and make my way home. Once back, I immediately unpack and start my laundry — a habit I've developed from travelling so frequently. If I don't take care of it right away, it'll end up sitting there all weekend!

Next, I head to the supermarket to stock up on fresh, healthy food. Touring and frequent dinner dates can throw off my usual healthy routine, so I like to reset as soon as I'm back.

Later, I attend a yoga class to stretch out after the travel-induced stiffness from hotel beds, playful encounters and long flights. Once I'm feeling refreshed, I catch up on a little Ivy Societe work, before settling in for an early night.

Total income for the day: $1,500.

Saturday.

I usually keep my weekends free — a rule I implemented last year to maintain a healthier work-life balance. However, when I'm away on tour, I often use weekends to catch up on Ivy Societe admin work. To balance this, I make time for a swim and catch up with friends to unwind and recharge.

Sunday.

Sunday is my dedicated work-free day, a non-negotiable ritual for maintaining balance in my life. On Sundays, I turn off both my personal and work phones, a practice I highly recommend to everyone. It's amazing how refreshing a complete digital detox can be.

I spend the day indulging in relaxing activities. Reading is a big part of my downtime; in 2024, I completed 52 books. Immersing myself in a good book helps me recharge and find inspiration.

Lately, my creative energy has been poured into a large art piece for my lounge room — a bold 2m x 2m project. It's been an incredibly rewarding process to see it come together.

This day of rest and creativity keeps me grounded and allows me to start the week feeling refreshed and inspired.
