When Carrie Fisher died in December last year, the world was in mourning. Only one day later, Debbie Reynolds, Singin’ in the Rain star and Fisher’s mum, also passed away.
Fisher was 60 years old and Reynolds was 84, the mother-daughter duo have been remembered in a public memorial at the Hollywood Hills cemetery.
Reynolds’ son and Fisher’s brother Todd took the stage to tell the heartbreaking story behind Reynolds’ death.
“When Carrie died, my mother decided to change her plans a bit. My mother always said to me, ‘I never want to go to my daughter’s funeral service. I would like to be buried with Carrie,’ he explained.
“I didn’t know she was going to leave us that very next day and when she looked at me to ask permission to leave, she said she wanted to be with Carrie, and she closed her eyes and went to sleep. It was a very peaceful exit that only my mother could’ve orchestrated."
“She was trained in Hollywood where they teach you to make a great entrance and exit…A beautiful exit," he added.
The memorial included an original song called I'm Here To Let You Go by James Blunt and a performance from the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles.

There was also a montage of photos and footage of Fisher and Reynolds and the background music was scored by Star Wars composer John Williams.
The ceremony was attended by 1200 people, many of whom took to social media to remember Fisher and Reynolds.
