This is how Dakota Johnson prepared for "heinous" sex scenes in 'Fifty Shades.'

Dakota Johnson has answered the one question we’ve been desperate to ask for years.

How do you prepare yourself to film a raunchy sex scene?

How do you get yourself ready to film a steamy sex scene in front of a bunch of crew members? How do you settle your nerves, knowing that scene will be watched by millions of people on a big freakin’ screen?

According to the Fifty Shades Darker star, it’s simple.

You need a shot of whisky.

The 27-year-old actress recently opened up about her 'prep work' to E!News.

“With the steamier scenes, the nude scenes, how do you prepare for those?” E! News reporter Zuri Hall asked the star.

“Sometimes you gotta take a shot," said Johnson.

The How To Be Single star also revealed that it's always a closed set when they film sex scenes and that they try to make it a "safe" and "respectful" environment for the actors.

As Mamamia previously reported, Johnson has also dished the dirt on Christian Grey's infamous 'red room'.

According to the actress, who plays the naive Anastasia Steele in the 50 Shades film series, there were all sorts of “crazy” things in the 50 Shades of Grey red room.

In addition to cuffs, whips, ropes, paddles, ben wa balls and eye masks, other items you may not have seen in the movie include things “like certain chairs for certain positions,” Johnson told The Independent, adding that the one item that really stuck in her mind was “this tiny little leather chair that looks like that thing when you go to the gynaecologist and put your feet up.”

Um, we'll have to take your word on that, Dakota.

Fifty Shades Darker will be released in Australian cinemas on the 9th February.
