Comics insist that everything is up for grabs when it comes to comedy. Maybe, but that doesn’t make it funny.
Today, everyone’s talking about Dakota Johnson. And for once, it has nothing to do with kinky sex or her chemistry with her co-star.
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress hosted Saturday Night Live this week, and things started out just fine.

There were predictable gags about Fifty Shades and her notoriously awkward co-star Jamie Dornan and an opening sequence with her famous parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.
But then, things got uncomfortable, very quickly.

Johnson appeared in a comedy sketch which was a parody of a Toyota ad where a dad is dropping his daughter off at college.
It featured Taran Killam as her dad, who was indeed tearfully dropping her off – to join terror group ISIS.

Look, we’re all for comedy and freedom of expression etc etc etc. But there was something unsettling and confronting about this sketch.

At a time when innocent people are being murdered by ISIS, vulnerable teenage girls are being lured overseas to become jihadi brides and the threat of terrorism is hanging over the world, should we be laughing? .
Many viewers took to social media to describe the parody as un-American and insensitive.
