In a world where violence and tragedy seems to steal the headlines and dominate our news, it seems we can also still find a place for all the good news. Because there are people doing lovely things.
This time, a group of primary-school aged boys are finding themselves the centre of a viral sensation after their simple good deed has touched the hearts of many.
The boys from Cooma North Public School in New South Wales had just finished up an away rugby game yesterday afternoon when they jumped back on the bus ready to head home. But when they looked out the window and saw an elderly man right before their eyes trying to move an overwhelming woodpile from one end of the house to the other, the boys decided they wouldn’t just watch. They’d get out, and they’d move it for him.
Posting on the Cooma North Public School’s Facebook page, Principal Belinda Jamieson wrote that she “very proud” of the boys for “paying it forward”.
“When the boys went back to the bus after the game, the team and their parents noticed an 81 year old gentleman trying to move his woodpile from the front of the house to the back. It was a rather large pile and would have taken the gentleman a long time. The boys and dads, without hesitation, decided to help the gentleman and completed the task in no time at all.
“It is gestures like this from our fantastic kids that make Cooma North such a great school. Boys, I am very proud of each and every one of you. I speak on behalf of all the teachers, parents and students when I say “top work!” It is wonderful to hear that you are ‘paying it forward’.”
The post has attracted over 40,000 likes, nearly 7,000 shares and nearly 3,000 comments from people who were moved by the simple but meaningful act by such a young group of boys.
