Lauren Trevan was just 18 years old when she first met Aiden* at their mutual sporting club. He was 27 at the time and "completely charming". By the time she was 20 and he 29, Lauren and Aiden* were a couple.
"He was this super popular guy in the club," Lauren told True Crime Conversations.
"He'd been there forever, and he was really talented. He was the type of guy when he would talk, people would listen. And I think I was just a little bit blown away by the fact he was interested in me at all."
Within a year, they were living together. Lauren was studying nursing, and was madly in love.
For a while, everything was perfect, but then slowly, things started to change. The first red flag came one night while Lauren was asleep. It was about 4am, Aiden had been out clubbing with his friends. He burst through the door, and turned the light on.
"And he just stood in the doorway, leaning against the door, and just boomed at me, 'Who's been here?'" she said.
"I was just so taken aback, and sat up half asleep."
He didn't believe her. The toilet paper roll was hanging differently, he said. Someone must've been there.
"It took me hours after that to settle him down (but I) couldn't convince him. It was like we were talking about two different relationships. So he made me work really hard to convince him I hadn't done anything wrong, when I actually hadn't done anything wrong," she said.
