We're calling it. This is the dress we'll all be wearing on Christmas Day.

The last thing you want to be thinking about on Christmas morning is what you're wearing to lunch.

Not when the family group chat is popping off, someone's still confused about the logistics of kris kringle and a turkey needs basting, despite the fact you've never actually basted a turkey before.

With only a few weeks to go, now is the time to get your look sorted. So allow us to simplify the process.

Watch: Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed? Our fashion experts can't decdie… post continues below.

Introducing the flared mididress, the silhouette you're seeing in all the shops right now.

It might have a high neck, statement shoulder or ruching at the waist — but while the shape brings some fashion-forward edge, it's comfortable enough to wear all day long.

And remember, it's okay to opt for something a little bit special… it is Christmas, after all.

"This is not about investing in a wardrobe of versatile separates: A dress is a one-off occasion," style expert Fifi Milne explained in a recent post on her fashion blog, The Fifi Report.

"You just put it on and it doesn't really need any styling."

Because the dress delivers the drama, you don't have to stress about what to pair it with. Chic leather sandals or thongs perfectly complement a midi-dress (and have that comfort factor), or you could opt for low mules or kitten heels.

Keep the styling clean and impactful by avoiding fussy accessories — you can add some festive sparkle with a sculptural bangle or weighty metal earrings.

Another silhouette that's ideal for Christmas Day, especially if you prefer some arm coverage, is a linen or cotton shirtdress — preferably in a maxi length for easy breezy wear (and the possibility of soaring temps.)

Play with resort prints and bright colours, and layer up fun accessories like beaded jewels, oversized shades or woven leather heels. The theme: human bauble.

If you're a separates person, you might gravitate towards a minimal matching set for your holiday celebrations.

More versatile than a standalone dress, the bonus here is that you can wear the pieces throughout summer in different ways.

A sleeveless bodice teamed with matching wide-leg pants is an elevated look for Christmas lunch that still feels totally effortless, while lace sets are trending for the season ahead.

We've tracked down some of the coolest co-ords below.
