"I’d like to go back to 1996." Christina Ricci has a lot of regrets.

Christina Ricci has lived a life filled with monumental highs and crushing lows. 

For many, she's been a familiar for face for almost 30 years, after having starred in The Addams Family when she was 10 years old. 

For others, they may recognise her as the troubled and rage-fueled sociopath on Paramount's 2021 series, Yellowjackets.

In many ways, she's one of those few rare actors who has navigated child stardom and come out on the other side relatively unscathed. 

But within the last decade or so, Ricci has revealed she's had to deal with some incredible hardships of her own. 

After generating buzz in Hollywood in the early 90s, the actor starred in the classic Disney movie, Casper, and later, received a Golden Globe nomination for The Opposite Sex.

But by the time she turned 18 years old, the industry had already pigeonholed her.

"I've done this my whole life, so there's nothing else I'm really going to do. I've always felt that way," she told the Los Angeles Times in January 2022.

"But there was definitely a period of time when I didn't fit into anything that was being made. I was constantly being asked or having to go and audition for rom-coms and the things that were available for actresses in my age range, and I didn't fit into any of them because, I don't know, I'm just a different kind of actress.

"It was a very tough period of time. Unfortunately, I didn't have the presence of mind that young women have right now. I tried very hard to change myself and make myself fit into those kinds of parts and movies, and it just never worked."

Christina Ricci in Yellow Jackets. Image: Paramount, In 2019, Ricci told Indiewire that she'd had a lot of pent-up emotion as a child star, and hadn't been equipped with the tools to deal with her emotions.

"I was a troubled, rageful teen who was then allowed to do junkets and press. I didn't lie about any of it really," she explained.

In a recent interview, Ricci admitted she has regrets from her teenage years.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022, the actor said: "I'd like to go back to 1996 and be like, 'All right… we had a practice run. It went okay, but it wasn’t really as great as we wanted it to be. We’re going to do this again.' 

"People who are like, 'I have no regrets.' What f**king magic life did you live?"

She also shared that if she could, she'd go back to her childhood and do it all over again. 

"Someone used to fax me love letters when he was on tour. I did not save them. I throw everything out. I had a specific thing when I was a child, that we would be punished by the things that we loved being destroyed," she explained. 

"My husband, who is a much healthier individual, has gone back and found all my old magazine covers on Etsy because he thinks it’s horrible that I never saved them. As a child, I learned that this is going to be taken from me, so why save it anyway?" she added.

"This is very dark, but I would just like to go back to that age and do it over again and not make so many f**king mistakes. Honestly, I regret so much."

In 2022, Ricci's career has excelled. The psychological thriller, Monstrous, released earlier this year, has already begun generating buzz for what is to come next from the actor. Season two of the highly regarded series, Yellowjackets, is currently in production too. 

As for how Ricci's future in Hollywood looks? Like anything, it remains unsure. 

But we have a feeling that Christina Ricci isn't going anywhere.
