Chloe Jade Mason's future was just beginning.
Just five years into adulthood, her life came to a tragic end as she was running for her life. A manhunt was launched for two men who allegedly killed the 23-year-old. Now, they have been charged with her murder.
Detectives do not believe it was a random attack, and allege that the suspects were known to Chloe.
Officers were called to Railway Parade, Caboolture, north of Brisbane at about 12.10am on December 22.
Police said Chloe, known as Ceejay, was found with a gunshot wound, unconscious and not breathing outside a property in Caboolture.
Chloe was unable to be revived.
It's believed she attended a Caboolture address where an altercation occurred, and she was chased and shot by the two men, police say.
Detective Inspector David Harbison said investigators were treating Chloe's death as a targeted homicide.
"Early investigations indicate the deceased was assaulted by two male persons who may have chased her down Railway Parade," he stated earlier.
"Police are investigating reports of up to three to four shots fired in that street."
Task force Operation Whiskey Cortland was launched to investigate the circumstances that led to Chloe's death.
On Monday, brothers Codye Thomson, 29, and 32-year-old Kaine Thomson-Gleeson were arrested without incident.
They have since been charged with one count each of murder.
