The Federal Government will today announce a compensation scheme for victims of institutional child sexual abuse.
The ABC understands the Commonwealth will lead the program, while states, territories and institutions, including churches, will be able to opt in.
It is understood victims will be able to access up to $150,000 each.
Federal Social Services Minister Christian Porter is set to make the announcement in Perth.
The royal commission into institutional child sexual abuse recommended establishing a national redress scheme.
An advisory council will be established to oversee its rollout.
More to come.
