'I just discovered this $29 CC cream, and it's the best I've ever used.'

In case you missed it, the 2025 You Beauty Awards is upon us — and yes, it's time to get excited and start voting!

Brought to you by our friends at Myer, Leigh Campbell, Kelly McCarren, Em Vernem, Sarah Marie Fahd and I have been enlisted to pop on our (cute) judge hats and collectively trial approximately eleventy thousand products. Our job? To narrow down each category to five products. And goodness — it's been a process.

Whether they've made the shortlist or not, there have been some goodies I've come across that have seriously wowed me and made me wonder why I hadn't tried them sooner.

Watch: Speaking of You Beauty, here's the dry feet solution you need to know about. Post continues below.

Exhibit A: Chi Chi Super CC Cream, which is usually $39.95 but is currently on sale at Myer for $26.96.

Heard of it? Apparently it's pretty dingin' popular.

Y'see, I posted a clip of me trialling it on the @youbeautypodcast Instagram account (if you're not already following, this is the place for all our behind-the-scenes You Beauty Awards content!), and the comment section was FLOODED with five-star reviews and people raving about how it's the best for everyday coverage.

Sorry, but why am I only hearing about this now? I haven't used Chi Chi Cosmetics since I was a teen — so I was keen to road-test it for myself.

So, below is my review of the Chi Chi Super CC Cream.

What is it?

Chi Chi's Super CC Cream is described as a "skin rejuvenating", "ultra-moisturising" and "colour-correcting" formula that's suitable for all skin types, for a radiant, healthy and even-looking glow. Formulated with ingredients like caviar extract (fancy!) — which has antioxidant properties — as well as hyaluronic acid, this formula promises to help soothe and repair dry skin.

Here's what she looks like:

Described as a two-in-one make-up meets skincare formula (we love a good hybrid!), it can be worn as a primer to help reduce the appearance of redness, dullness or blemishes, or layered as a foundation.

How did you go with it?

Well! I have to say, I'm genuinely impressed. The formula comes in convenient 50ml pump packaging that's perfect for everyday use. I used my hands to apply and blend this formula, which is something I always appreciate in a base product — no brushes or sponges required.

From the first application, I noticed how creamy yet surprisingly lightweight it felt on my skin. It has this silky texture that blends like an absolute dream. What really impressed me, though, was its ability to blur out imperfections and redness without looking heavy or cakey. My skin still felt like skin, and I could still see my freckles peeking through, which I love.

The coverage is what I'd call a perfect medium — it evens out skin tone beautifully while still looking natural. The formula is nicely buildable, too, so you can add a bit more to areas that need extra coverage without it becoming thick or obvious.

I wore it throughout a full workday and was delighted by how well it wore. Rather than sitting on top of the skin, it seems to melt right in, enhancing your natural complexion, rather than masking it. By the end of the day, my skin still looked fresh and felt hydrated — no dryness or patchiness in sight!

The verdict.

I've officially converted to this CC cream. What stands out most is how lightweight it feels while still providing excellent coverage — a rare combination, in my experience. It's the perfect everyday base that gives you that "your skin but better" finish that works for both office days and casual weekends.

At under $30 (while on sale), it's incredibly affordable compared to similar products I've tried that cost twice as much. The buildable formula means you can customise your coverage depending on your needs that day, and I love that I can just use my fingers to apply it quickly — perfect for those mornings when I'm rushing out the door.

If you're looking for a fuss-free, hydrating base product that delivers natural-looking coverage and skincare benefits, I can't recommend the Chi Chi Super CC Cream enough. It's earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag, and at this price point, it's a no-brainer.
