Ankle height shops might be easily missed, but there is a new row of food stores in Sweden that are worth a look.
A group of artists have created some tiny shops in Malmo specifically for the city’s mice.
Local rodents have been spotted window-shopping by the boutique stores, which are smaller than a restaurant menu.
“It’s just too darn charming to imagine a world where mice lives parallel to ours but just slightly out of sight,” one of the artists told The Huffington Post.
They new urban rodent hang-out has al fresco dining options, mouse-sized transport and posters about mice gigs.
“They are built of things that we had laying around and also things we collected, like caps, lids from tin cans, matches, buttons, a lamp shade, Italian stamps,” the artist said.
“The idea was to use things mice themselves could have collected and reused.”
The artist collective, which has over 18,ooo followers on Instagram, hopes the mini shops will become an “organic” part of the city.
“Already people have started to interact with them – someone has baked miniature buns and posters have been added to the scenery,” the artist said.
Unfortunately for Malmo’s mice, the nuts store is currently closed – with tempting real nuts inside.
“Unless the mice possess some kind of lock-picking talent we doubt they’ll get it,” said the artist.
One follower praised the work as “delicious, nutritious food for the famished mice” but called for the establishments to include elves.
The shops have been such a success that the creators are working on more for 2017.
