Charles Saatchi, advertising magnate and ex-husband to ultimate domestic goddess Nigella Lawson, has been spotted making his new partner cry in public.
But here’s the creepiest thing: Saatchi and his partner Trinny Woodall were sitting at the same table in the same restaurant where Saatchi was photographed last year with his hands around Lawson’s throat.
The same table. The same restaurant.
Obviously, Saatchi has a favourite dining spot – perhaps it’s the perfect distance from the bathroom, next to a good heater, or especially good for people-watching. But you’d think having photographs of a now infamous assault in every major paper in the world would perhaps inspire you to change date location.
Apparently not.
Saatchi and Trinny, a TV fashion stylist, have been dating for about 9 months. Passers-by and restaurant staff became alarmed as the couple started arguing in full view of other patrons. Trinny started crying, wiping her tears as Saatchi raised his voice at her across the table.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Saatchi looked over his shoulder, realised history was repeating itself, and requested to be moved inside.
Observant strangers say 70-year-old Saatchi drank a bottle of red, while 50-year-old Trinny barely touched a thing.
But the aggression on Saatchi’s part doesn’t end there.
When contacted by The Mail on Sunday, Saatchi denied there had been an argument. He replied to a journalist’s request for comment with this snide email: ‘Why not send a photographer to Scott’s tomorrow lunchtime, and I will give Trinny a good throttling in time for your deadline?’
Not cool, Saatchi. You may have a multi-million-dollar hobby collecting beautiful art, but women don’t work the same way. You don’t just get to add them to your collection.
