Why so many of your favourite stars aren't attending The Golden Globes.

I don't know about you, but at Mamamia, we are so excited about the 2025 Golden Globes. From the stunning red carpet fashion to the unforgettable moments, there's always something iconic to look forward to when award season rolls around.

The outfits alone are enough to get us talking for days and, of course, who can forget those crazy, unexpected moments that seem to happen every year —whether it's an off-the-cuff remark, a surprise winner, or just something completely out of left field.

It's the night where anything can happen, and we can't wait to see who will take home a trophy.

But, as is the case every year, not every star will be basking in the glow. This year, a few of Hollywood's most familiar faces will be skipping the festivities.

From scheduling conflicts to some of Hollywood's biggest dramas this year, we're all curious to see who will be staying home, and who will still be making their way to the awards.

Let's take a look at the stars missing from this year's Golden Globes lineup.

Brad Pitt.

With his upcoming film F1 being released in June 2025, it would make sense for Brad Pitt to attend several award shows as a part of the movie's promotional strategy.

However, it looks like that is not the case this year.

Not only has Pitt not been seen on the red carpet of the Golden Globes, but his now ex-wife Angelina Jolie, who until recently he was in a lengthy divorce battle with, was seen walking the red carpet with their daughter, Zahara.

Zahara, who has dropped Pitt's last name and is allegedly estranged from the actor, has always been supportive of her mother. Recently, she went by a different name, "Zahara Marley Jolie" for a recent performance at her college sorority.

Meanwhile, her sister Vivienne helped mother Angelina produce the Broadway show The Outsiders, where she was credited as "Vivienne Jolie."

One A-list couple we won't be seeing at the Globes this year is Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

According to Deadline, the couple will be skipping the annual awards ceremony amidst Lively's ongoing legal dispute with her It Ends With Us costar and director, Justin Baldoni.

However, sources have told Deadline that the couple's decision to sit out the 2025 Golden Globes was made "well in advance" of Lively's lawsuit against Baldoni.

The couple's absence will be especially notable this year, as Reynolds is nominated as part of the Deadpool and Wolverine cast in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category at this year's ceremony. And while we're on the topic of Deadpool and Wolverine…

Hugh Jackman.

It seems that like Deadpool, Wolverine will also not be attending the Golden Globes this year.

Despite Deadpool and Wolverine earning $1.33 billion globally and receiving a Golden Globe nomination, Hugh Jackman will also be skipping this year's ceremony.

While the exact reason for his absence is unknown, Deadline reported that Reynolds and Jackman made the decision to skip the ceremony together.

Previously, Jackman has been nominated for four Golden Globes and taken home one statue for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical Feature, for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in 2012's Les Miserables.

Bradley Cooper.

It looks like Bradley Cooper won't be making an appearance at the Golden Globes this year.

Given he was spotted at the Philadelphia Eagles' NFL regular season finale in Pennsylvania today with his daughter Lea, it seems unlikely he will be making it to Los Angeles in time for the celebration.

Matthew McConaughey.

Matthew McConaughey made some famous and fun cameos in films this year, including a short voice role in Deadpool & Wolverine and voicing Buster Moon, once again, in the short film, Sing: Thriller.

But, given he didn't lead a full-length film this year, nor is he nominated, it is unlikely we will be seeing him grace the Globes red carpet this year.
