As Oscars season approaches and Hollywood celebrities dominate our radar, we thought there was no better time than to blow a few minds and remind you that the movie business really is a small place.

And that there are far more celebrities who are related than we had ever really considered.

Rob Lowe and Hilary Swank

Did you know these two used to be brother and sister-in-law? Lowe’s brother, actor Chad Lowe, was married to Hillary Swank for 10 years. They split in 2007.

Liev Schreiber and Pablo Schreiber

Liev Shreiber and Pablo Schreiber are both notable actors in their own right, and also happen to be half-brothers. Their father Tell Carroll Schreiber was also an actor.

Cameron Diaz and Nicole Richie

As sisters-in-law, these two are each married to one half of the Madden twins. Diaz is married to Benji Madden while Richie is married to Joel. It's believed Richie played matchmaker for Diaz and Benji Madden.

Casey Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix

Casey Affleck isn't just Ben Affleck's younger brother, but the actor is also related to Joaquin Phoenix. He is currently separated from Summer Phoenix, Joaquin's sister, making him (for now, anyway) his brother-in-law.

Dakota Johnson and Antonio Banderas

The Fifty Shades Darker star was once the step-daughter of actor Antonio Banderas. Bandaras was married to Johnson's mother, Melanie Griffith, for 19 years before the pair split in June 2014.

Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci

Stanley Tucci is Emily Blunt's brother-in-law, after marrying Blunt's sister Felicity. It's believed they met after meeting Emily on the set of The Devil Wears Prada.

Julia and Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts was born into one of the most recognisable families in Hollywood. Her aunty is Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts and her father, Eric, has been nominated for an Oscar.

Kate Hudson and Wyatt Russell

Kate Hudson and Wyatt Russell are half-siblings. Russell, the star of Black Mirror, is the son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. Hudson's mother is Hawn, which means Russell is the younger half-brother of both Kate and Oliver Hudson.

Katherine Waterston and Sam Waterston

Newsroom and Law & Order star Sam Waterston isn't the only famous face in his family. His daughter, Katherine, stars in recently released Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Melissa McCarthy and Mark Wahlberg

This is a little bit of a complicated one, but perhaps unsurprisingly, Melissa McCarthy is first cousins with Jenny McCarthy. Jenny is married to Donnie Wahlberg, whose younger brother is Mark Wahlberg. This means that Mark Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy are in-laws, which naturally brings Melissa McCarthy into the family tree too.

Ashlee Simpson and Diana Ross

Ashlee Simpson isn't just the sister of Jessica Simpson, but doubles as Diana Ross' daughter-in-law. Ashlee married into the Ross family in 2014, when she wedded husband is Evan Ross, son to Diana and half-brother to Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross.

Antonia Kidman has found a place where she is not known as "Nicole's sister."
