While Carrie Fisher, who has died aged 60, was best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, she also made appearances in Shampoo, The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, The Burbs and When Harry Met Sally — as well as poking fun at herself in cameo appearances over the years.
Take a look at some of her other roles:
Shampoo (1975)
As a teen, Fisher made her debut in the satirical romantic drama movie, Shampoo. Despite playing a relatively minor role as Lorna, it is believed the film launched her career.
Star Wars (1977) (1980) (1983)
Fisher starred as Princess Leia in the original, cult-classic trilogy, which made her internationally famous in her own right. She was widely lauded for her portrayal of a princess-turned-rebel, with Leia ranked the fifth-best Star Wars character by Rolling Stone in 2015.
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Five years after her first film, Fisher appeared in The Blues Brothers as Jake’s vengeful ex-lover.
Hannah and Her Sisters (1986)
In Woody Allen’s film about an extended family, Fisher plays April — a friend and fellow actress of Hannah’s sister, Holly — who eventually becomes a rival in an audition for a Broadway musical and for the attentions of architect David.
The Burbs (1989)
Fisher plays the role of Carol Peterson, wife of Raymond Peterson, in the black comedy horror film which pokes fun at suburbanites.
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Fisher plays Sally’s close friend Marie Fisher in the famous rom-com.
She also made a few cameo appearances in recent years, including:
30 Rock (2007)
Fisher plays the role of Liz Lemon’s (Tina Fey) idol, Rosemary Howard, one of the first female television comedy writers.
Liz invites Rosemary to guest write for her television show but both are soon fired after Rosemary pitches some controversial skits.
Sex and the City (2000)
She also played herself in the iconic television series, Sex and the City, where she comes home to discover her personal assistant in bed with Carrie Bradshaw.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
Fisher played a therapist visited by Dr Evil and Scott in the first instalment of the Austin Powers series.
