BROOKE HOGAN: 'I've struggled with dermatitis for years. This $25 product is my go-to.'

If you're someone with perioral dermatitis, you'll know how much of an asshole it can be. It's a fickle condition that can be really tricky to treat. Sometimes it feels almost impossible to know what's causing that red rash around your mouth or nose if you're doing all the right things but actually making everything worse... sigh.

So when we recently sat down with model Brooke Hogan on You Beauty podcast and asked her exactly what products she used to treat her perioral dermatitis (both during and post-pregnancy), you best believe we were all ears.

Especially because her go-to is only $24.95. (Actually, it's currently $21 at Chemist Warehouse).

Any guesses?

It's the cult-favourite La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+, of course! (There's a reason it scored runner-up in this years' 2024 You Beauty Awards!).

On the podcast, Brooke told us, "I've always had pretty sensitive skin. But I've always had to be mindful about what I'm using on my skin. I've always had perioral dermatitis, and crazily, throughout pregnancy, it completely went away. And as soon as I had the baby, it came back straight away."

For this reason, Brooke said her skincare routine is simple and not overly complicated — focusing on gentle, hydrating and non-irritating products that help support her skin, as well as calm and soothe any niggling dermatitis flare-ups.

"I love the feeling of having like a really nice balm on my face," she said. "When I am having a flare-up, I'm too scared to use anything that could make it better because it could potentially make it worse."

Hard relate.

"Not only is it really red, it's actually really itchy, and it's quite uncomfortable. So it's just one of those trusty products that sits on my shelf that you know maybe I don't reach for every single day, but it's one of those products that I know that I can absolutely rely on."

Brooke continued, "With my dermatitis, I have to be really mindful about what I'm using. And I have to really think about what I'm using and going, 'Okay, have I used a product that has that ingredient in it before? Or should I avoid that?' - so, I'm learning more and more about my skin every day."

"I would always go for something that I know that just doesn't irritate me that I know it's going to give me hydration, that's not going to affect my dermatitis."

In case you're not across the goodness that is La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume, this good boy is a very excellent all-rounder and great for anyone dealing with irritated, read and angry skin.

It's a beautifully thick, nourishing formula that's ultra repairing and perfect for dealing with rough skin, dry patches and cracks.

Read: Heaven for someone with perioral dermatitis.

In short, it coddles your skin, gives it a kiss on the head and sings it to sleep.

As always, not every skin type is the same — and what works for one person might not work for you. So, if you're struggling with perioral dermatitis, it's best to make an appointment with a qualified dermatologist and suss out which treatment is right for your skin.
