Days after announcing her Bachelorette split, Brooke Blurton found out she was pregnant.

Brooke Blurton has shared on her podcast that back in 2022 when she split with her The Bachelorette winner, Darvid Garayeli, she found out she was pregnant.

If you cast your mind back three years, Darvid suddenly announced the split on Instagram, a month after their finale episode aired. It was an announcement that Brooke later confirmed was a 'surprise' to her.

But it turns out, along with the shock of Darvid's social media post, Brooke was dealing with news of an entirely different nature: she was pregnant.

She opened up on her podcast, Nova Podcast's First Things First, about her pregnancy experience post-Bachelorette.

It was this experience that made her hesitant to have a man be involved in her future pregnancy.

"I had made it really clear in my mind and my body that… I never let a guy at all… unless I knew that we were gonna have a baby," she said.

"That sounds so f**ked, I just wanted it to be so special. And I did that with Darvid, and we were actively trying for a baby, and then we broke up. And then a few days after we broke up, and he left me, I found out I was pregnant."

Brooke shed light on how traumatic the days following the breakup announcement were.

"For me, that was just so terrifying and also so conflicting, because I'd always wanted to be pregnant."

She said the pregnancy made her rethink whether she would have a baby on her own.

"I really think it comes back to that 2021 year. I'm just so cautious of who I'm going to be having a child with, and I feel so much better having it by myself," she said.

"I just feel like I can rely on myself and I can't rely on anyone else, and that's really bad. I know that, I need to work through that, and I think that's just my hyper-independence kicking in, but I trust that I could look after a baby and I could trust that I would give it the love and care and consideration it needs."

Brooke did not further address her pregnancy in 2021, but did open up about motherhood.

Brooke clarified that she isn't rushing into having a baby, but it's in her long-term plan.

"That's kind of the cycle I'm in. I really want to have a baby, but I just am not considering that in my future right now, because right now I've got things that I need to do for me, and if I do feel like I want to, or I feel pressured to have it in the next five years," she said.

"I don't feel like I'm under pressure. And if I do feel like that pressure soon I'll go and get my eggs freeze, which I have considered, and I've been trying to put a little bit more money aside, because they're just quite expensive."

Since her time on The Bachelorette, Brooke has launched her podcast with Matty Mills, where they share personal stories through a First Nations lens.

She has released a memoir, Big Love: Reclaiming Myself, My People, My Country, plus has her first novel A Good Kind of Trouble which is set to be released this month. It's all happening!
