Here are 6 facts that will change the way you watch the new season of Bridgerton.

Yerin Ha is Australian.

While she fits perfectly into the Regency-era London setting and nails the British accent, Yerin Ha actually hails from Sydney, Australia.

The actress was known for her roles in Halo and Dune: Prophecy before landing the role of Sophie Baek.

After moving to South Korea to study at Seoul's Kaywon High School of Arts at the age of 15, Ha decided to head back down under to further her education. In 2018, she graduated from Sydney's prestigious drama school, the National Institute of Dramatic Art.

It's a testament to her talent (and the show's dialect coaches) that she slips so seamlessly into the world of debutantes and dukes.

Crafting Sophie's masquerade look was very intricate.

Sophie's "lady in silver" look is legendary in the books, but costume designer John Glaser wanted it to feel like a dream. The dress features hidden layers of fabric and hand-placed crystals designed specifically to catch the moonlight.

"My favourite thing about the costume is that underneath, they have embellished all these crystals and gemstones so that it can sparkle when I move," Ha explained to Netflix.

"I remember seeing this super wide shot of us on the terrace with the lighting, and when we were dancing, you could actually see the dress sparkle under the moonlight."

Glaser noted that the design process was a balance of mystery and period-accuracy.

"With the dress, there are layers of fabric and sparkle. You're not really sure what period it is or where it's come from," he said to Vogue. "She's the only one in silver — that's how she stands out... but the Jimmy Choos give it away. That's not period."

The steamy staircase scene had to be postponed twice.

You might see the steam on screen, but behind the scenes, there were some literal chills. Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha's intimate scene had to be pushed back, not just once, but twice because they kept getting sick.

"What we actually did is we both got ill," Thompson told E! News.

Ha quipped that their bodies were reacting to the pressure.

"It tells us we were mentally a little bit weak, a little bit nervous, my immune system was down," she joked.

However, they emphasised that the intimacy serves the story.

"I do think that with those scenes, it is just an extension of an emotion, and it's there because it has to be, not because we're just doing a steamy scene for a steamy scene's sake," Ha said.

Luke Thompson gave Yerin Ha a subtle seal of approval during their chemistry read.

Chemistry is everything in Bridgerton, and for Benedict and Sophie, it was there from the start. During their very first chemistry read — which happened over Zoom — Yerin Ha was understandably nervous. After they finished their first scene together, Luke Thompson gave her a simple, encouraging thumbs up through the camera.

"I remember you gave me a thumbs up after one of my scenes… And I wasn't sure, 'Is this passive or is this good?'" Yerin revealed on Still Watching Netflix.

For Thompson, the connection was instant.

"When we did our first scene together, it just felt like we'd been working together for a very long time," he said to E!News.

Benedict's wardrobe this season was inspired by Shakespeare in Love

If you noticed Benedict looking a bit more poetic this season, that's by design. John Glaser took inspiration from Joseph Fiennes' iconic look.

"There's something a bit Joseph Fiennes in Shakespeare in Love about him," Glaser explained to Vogue

Because Benedict is moving away from the rigid world of debutantes, his silhouette has been softened.

"We've pushed him into the future a bit so that he's not as restricted as the other men on the show," Glaser said. "He's no longer going after debutantes, so we've opened him up to accept this new world."

When it comes to his masquerade look, the design team wanted Benedict's personality to shine through more than the costume itself.

The kite scene was the first scene Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha filmed together.

First impressions are everything, and for Thompson and Ha, their first day involved the iconic kite-flying scene.

Instead of starting with a formal ballroom sequence or a heavy dialogue scene, the pair was thrown into the playful, outdoor energy of the kite scene, and it actually mirrored the very bond they were portraying.

"That's really where Benedict and Sophie's relationship blossoms," Ha told Tudum. "It's a parallel between Luke and me, because that's where our friendship started to blossom as co-stars. I have a nostalgic, sentimental attachment to that place now."
