With Bridgerton Season 4 officially gracing our screens, the obsession with the Ton's most prolific siblings has reached a fever pitch once again. We've watched the eldest members of the brood find their matches amidst scandal and high-society balls, but the journey is far from over.

While we are all collectively holding our breath for the next instalment, we know that the transition from page to screen often involves a bit of creative polishing.

Shondaland isn't afraid to shake up the status quo (as we've already seen), but the original novels by Julia Quinn provide a roadmap for the drama to come.

There are four Bridgerton siblings left to find their happily ever after. Here is the lowdown on their stories according to the books.

Francesca Bridgerton.

If the spin-off Queen Charlotte proved anything, it's that this franchise handles heartbreak just as well as it handles romance. Francesca's story, based on When He Was Wicked, is widely considered the most emotional of the series.

In the books, Francesca moves to Scotland after marrying John Stirling. However, tragedy strikes just two years later when John passes away suddenly. Adding to the grief, Francesca suffers a miscarriage shortly after. In the novels, it is John's cousin, Michael, who steps in as the new Earl — and the man who has secretly loved Francesca from the moment they met.

The show has already put its own stamp on this by introducing Michaela instead of Michael, setting the stage for a poignant exploration of identity and grief. Eventually, Francesca finds love again, finding peace and a second chance at motherhood.

Eloise Bridgerton.

In a twist that feels a bit like Beauty and the Beast meets The Sound of Music, Eloise's story in To Sir Phillip, With Lov begins with a pen. Following the passing of her cousin, Marina, Eloise strikes up a correspondence with Marina's widower, Sir Phillip Crane.

On a total whim, the fiercely independent Eloise flees her life in London to visit his estate, only to find that Phillip isn't looking for a soulmate — he's looking for a mother for his two unruly twins. He is moody and expects a quiet, traditional wife, which is... well, not Eloise.

However, through shared loss and a classic enemies-to-lovers arc, she tames the household and finds a love that is far more substantial than the spinsterhood she once feared.

Hyacinth Bridgerton.

For the youngest daughter, the romantic stakes involve a literal quest. In It's in His Kiss, an older Hyacinth is frustrated after several seasons without a match. She eventually teams up with Lady Danbury's grandson, Gareth St. Clair, to translate an old family diary.

The diary supposedly holds the key to a hidden family fortune. While some book fans find the treasure hunt plot a bit of a departure from the usual ballroom drama, it allows Hyacinth's sharp wit to shine.

Naturally, decoding the past leads to a future together, and the two eventually wed and start a family of their own.

Gregory Bridgerton.

The youngest brother's story, On the Way to the Wedding, is perhaps the most chaotic of the bunch. Gregory is a firm believer in true love, but he starts off chasing the wrong woman, Hermione.

He enlists the help of Hermione's friend, Lucy, to win her over — unaware that Lucy is falling for him while simultaneously sabotaging his efforts.

By the time Gregory realises Lucy is the one, she is already walking down the aisle to someone else. In a truly dramatic finale, after she's already married, Gregory appears in Lucy's room (briefly kidnapping her) to confess his feelings.

It turns out the marriage was never consummated, an annulment is granted, and Gregory and Lucy go on to have a whopping nine children together.
