The completely unexpected just happened during Bride & Prejudice's first wedding.

After weeks of anticipation, we’ve finally seen our first Bride & Prejudice wedding.

And boy, was it shocking.

After openly admitting their dislike for their son’s fiancee Lily, it was hard to tell whether Hank’s conservative parents Terry and Margaret would actually attend their son’s wedding.

And after Hank met with his parents to clear the air the day before the wedding, he still wasn’t sure whether his father would come or not.

“If you come to the wedding, that’s a sign to say that you have apologised to Lily,” Hank told his father.

“Honestly don’t come if you don’t feel 100 per cent apologising to Lily tomorrow,” he added.

Understandably, Twitter were pretty shocked by Terry’s lack of willingness to accept Lily.

“If Dad doesn’t come to the wedding, he’s chosen to divide the family and I don’t know where to go from there,” Hank admitted.

But in the end, the unexpected happened – Terry and Margaret actually showed up, shocking viewers.

Yes, really.

Over the course of this season, Hank's parents have shocked viewers with their old-fashioned, conservative views.

Terry and Margaret labelled their son's fiancee a "controlling, feminist vegetarian" and have said they'd prefer a woman for their son "who doesn't speak back and does what she's told".

Terry in particular doesn't approve of Lily's strong feminist opinions, nor her willingness to speak up against his bigoted views.

In a group therapy session earlier in the season, Terry shocked viewers with his stance on racism.

"See, I don't think Lily understands white males," he said in the session.

"You can't talk about lots of groups of people anymore... racism, homophobia, Islamophobia... all the phobias."
