A woman got an empty box for Christmas from her boyfriend and she didn't dump him.

Buying your significant other a Christmas present you hope they will love and enjoy can be one of the most stressful parts of the festive season.

One can only hope that your loved one will cherish the gift you carefully selected for them. That’s why it’s such a surprise to see the reaction from this girlfriend when her partner told her had gotten her a box for Christmas.

… Did we mention the box was empty?

Braxton Sislo, 21, posted a screenshot of the text message conversation with his girlfriend, Ray, on Twitter.

“Hey, I got you a box,” he wrote alongside a snap of the navy blue box.

“It’s just a box…there’s nothing in it…But like you can put stuff in it.”

Ray’s reaction was, well, a little bit like this:

“YESSSS BABE!!!” she replied, without a single hint of sarcasm.

“I can put my jewelry in it, I wanted a simple box for a bit (sic).”

Yeah…that just happened. The tweet, shared on December 15, has now been shared over 19,000 times.

Emboldened by Braxton’s success, other boyfriends across the world tried to pass off an empty box to their partners.

Let’s just say that for some, it didn’t end well.

Ray’s response to the unconventional gift should be a lesson to us all: it’s the thought that counts, not the gift itself.

“She’s a really great human,” Braxton told Huffington Post of his girlfriend

“She has a lot to offer to the world and I’m blessed enough to be able to call her my girlfriend.”

And that, my friends, is what Christmas is all about.
