ROADTEST: "I tried The KIND Collective's new blue light cosmetics. Here are my honest thoughts."

You know what I love? Makeup that makes me look great and feel confident. You know what I love even more? Makeup that does all of that and more, without breaking the bank.

Enter: The KIND Collective.

A brand new, very gorgeous looking, cosmetic brand! But they are more than just pretty (though the luxe pink box almost had me fooled), they also give a damn about you and your skin.

The KIND Collective was created by women who wanted a range of multipurpose cosmetics to add to their repertoire, but found that the market was lacking in quality options. As a result, their makeup is about being more than just makeup — the cutting edge products are active, nourishing and multi-tasking. 

The brand is also cruelty free, 100% vegan and PETA accredited. I also love they are Australian owned and the hero products are Australian made with mindfully selected ingredients. Even waste is considered in their design — their gorgeous packaging is made from bamboo card that can be composted.

Though, there's one very significant point of difference with The KIND Collective — not only do their products contain beautiful ingredients to care for your skin, but some of them also have added blue light protection.

Confused? I was too. I had no idea that blue light cosmetics were actually a thing.

Blue light from screens and other devices can lead to changes to your skin, and can ultimately speed up the ageing process.

And considering we have been spending more time than ever in front of screens, it's something we've all got to consider. (Even I've started to notice that my skin is appearing a little more tired and dull than usual.)

So naturally, I was so excited to be able to roadtest a bunch of products that are designed to protect my skin from the effects of blue light. The KIND Collective's face cosmetics, including some foundations, serums and primers are formulated with natural blue light ingredients that protect skin from the stresses of short wave blue light.

After taking them for a test drive, allow me to introduce you to some of their products and my verdict.

Blur Perfection Primer with Blue Light Protection

If you want your skin, but better, then you need this primer. It’s a multi-purpose product that can be used under makeup, but I’ve also been enjoying it on its own for a little extra glow and protection. It offers sheer coverage, with colour correcting pigments and a soft-focus finish.

The primer is packed with beautiful ingredients, such as Shea Butter, Kakadu Plum, Avocado, Pomegranate and Rosehip Oil and Vitamin E, which all leave your skin feeling instantly smooth and hydrated. 

Upon first trialling it, I quickly came to realise that it works wonders on my dry skin. It gives it that fresh burst of hydration I so often need under my makeup. Despite the slight illumination to it, it didn't leave me looking overly glowy, so it would be beautiful even on oily skin types.

KIND Healthy Sheer Glow Foundation

The Healthy Sheer Glow foundation hydrates the skin, while colour correcting so obviously I am obsessed. It’s a light to medium coverage, so it feels like I have nothing on my skin. It left me looking like the healthy, glowy goddess I've always wanted to be, evening out skin tone and blurring imperfections.

The foundation is infused with White Sapphire for a soft-focus finish, as well as other amazing antioxidant-rich and anti-ageing skin nourishing ingredients, including Vitamin E, Kakadu Plum, Kangaroo Paw, Rosehip, Avocado and Pomegranate Oil. Not only that, it also contains natural blue light ingredients which help protect our skin from devices.

It’s skincare in makeup form and it’s beautiful. After trialling it for a few days, I came to a wonderful realisation: it's so nice to get home at the end of the day and not feel like my skin is sick to death of the makeup I have on. 

It very quickly become my favourite day-to-day foundation because it just leaves my skin looking SO healthy, yet still like my skin!

Natural Mineral Foundation Powder

When I heard about their foundation powder, I was a little hesitant at first. After all, I still remember when I used to use mineral foundations that left me feeling dry, looking powdery and highlighting any fine lines or imperfections. This mineral foundation does none of that! 

It is a soft-focus, luminous finish that wears well throughout the day. It does not feel dry at all and it blurs imperfections, pores and lines, rather than highlighting. It has a buildable coverage, building to a medium coverage on me.

The powder has SPF 15+ to protect the skin from harmful UV rays, while also, like the other base products, protecting your skin from the stresses of short-wave blue light emitted from screens. My skin also loved the other nourishing ingredients such as Vitamin E, Jojoba and pore-reminding Kaolin.

The products have really found a soft spot in my heart in the short time I have been using them. 

As for the rest of my face, I've been finishing off my everyday look with The Wonderlash Health+ Mascara and the Hydrating Lip Elixir with Hyaluronic Acid.

The mascara contains Argan Oil, Kakadu Plum, Shea Butter and Vitamin E to repair and nourish lashes as well. It's honestly given me the fluffiest and fullest lashes so naturally, I'm obsessed. 

The Hydrating Lip Elixir has been a lifesaver for my lips. It contains Hyaluronic Acid as well as Mango and Shea Butter to keep your lips feeling soft and conditioned, while also adding a little natural pink tint.

So, if you’re on the hunt for a beautiful and mindful cosmetic brand that doesn’t break the bank, I cannot recommend checking out KIND enough. 

My skin feels so cared for while wearing the products and they look so beautiful on the skin. The nourishing ingredients, along with the added protection from blue light, is a huge win in my books.
