Ryan Reynolds was the ultimate 'girl dad'. He's just shared the gender of his fourth, Olin.

After welcoming a fourth child in February 2023, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds kept the details about their newest addition extremely private. 

Now over a year old, it seems they have decided it is time to share their little one's name and gender with the public. 

At the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in New York City, Reynolds took the opportunity to reveal their youngest child's name — Olin.

Reynolds casually mentioned the name while addressing the crowd before the screening. 

“I want to start by saying thank you to my wife, Blake, who is here,” he said. “I want to thank my kids, James, Inez, Betty, Olin, who are here. I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing — that is, the contents of this movie — that happens in your wondrous life.”

“I love that my entire family is here,” he added.  

Olin is a Swedish name meaning "to inherit," typically used for boys. At the time, Reynolds hadn't confirmed Olin's gender, and given that the couple has a daughter named James, it wouldn't have been surprising if Olin were a girl.

However, Reynolds later confirmed that Olin is indeed a boy in a YouTube video where he interviewed mental health advocate and Walking 4 Hope founder John Bell, who tragically lost his own son, Jake, to suicide.

Jake was a huge fan of Reynolds and the character Deadpool before his passing in 2020. During a conversation with John, Reynolds mentioned that he and Lively now have a little boy of their own.

"I’m very grateful that you shared his story. I want to share with you that I too have a son," Reynolds said.

"Boy, John, if I love him one-tenth as much as you love Jake, I feel like I’ve done a pretty damn good job."

After the interview was posted, John expressed his gratitude to Reynolds, not only for his support of the organisation but also for his personal support.

"I don’t know how I have managed to keep quiet for so long," he tweeted. 

"I can not even begin to express what this man Ryan has done for me personally and for our charity @Walking4Hope. But I never forget the foundations. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has gotten behind me and our cause."

Olin has three older sisters: James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4. 

Both Lively and Reynolds are famously private about their children, often revealing their names indirectly, such as through their friend Taylor Swift's songs.

"We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child's name will be," Reynolds joked during an appearance on the Today show.

"We're still waiting. So, Taylor, let's maybe start, you know.

"She's a prolific writer. I mean, what are we doing here? And lazy's not a word I'd attach to Taylor."

Swift has frequently woven references to Lively and Reynolds' children into her songs. 

For instance, she featured James' baby voice at the beginning of her 2017 track Gorgeous, and in 2020, the couple allowed her to reveal Betty's name in her song 'Betty'. The song 'Betty', from her 2020 album Folklore, tells the story of a teenage love triangle involving characters named James, Inez, and Betty.

The couple welcomed Olin in February 2023, but kept details surrounding the birth private. Instead, Lively shared an Instagram post that showed she no longer has a baby bump, resulting in a deluge of comments.

"Been busy," she wrote in the post, which featured her with Reynolds and his mother Tammy.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly last year, Reynolds shared how the couple's three daughters felt about their new sibling.

"They're in. They love it," he said.

"I'm very excited. We'd have to be. You know, you'd have to be a moron to do this four times if you didn't like it. It's gonna be nuts, but we're very excited."

In July 2024 Reynolds teased that he wants as many kids 'as possible' with Lively. 

"The more the merrier," Reynolds joked. "As many as possible. As many little heartbeats as possible, just running around, wrecking stuff in the house. I love it. Let’s have more!"

It comes after Lively joked that her man was 'trying to get her pregnant again'.

Lively and Reynolds were cast as love interests in the superhero film The Green Lantern in 2010.

The couple went on to tie the not in 2012, and have since become one of Hollywood's biggest power couples. Lively is about to make her return to the big screen in cult book adaptation It Ends With Us.
