TRIED AND TESTED: ‘The zero-downtime treatment that completely transformed my skin in 4 sessions.’

For most of my adult life, I've been insecure about my skin.

Like a toxic situationship, I'd beg for clear, even skin. In return, I'd receive rosacea, hormonal acne and more oil than a deep fryer.

Even though I know all skin is different and it's a 'first world problem', everything ramped up (physically and emotionally) when I stopped taking the pill.

Permanently red cheeks. Pores the size of small villages.

I started developing cystic acne during my period and every spot left so much scarring.

After one particularly rough skin week, I turned to the woman I trust with everything: Lauren, my skin therapist.

She took one look at my face and said, "You need BioRePeel. And you need it now."

Here's everything you need to know about BioRePeel, including all the BioRePeel benefits and my BioRePeel before and after results.

What is BioRePeel and BioRePeel benefits.

- BioRePeel is the name of an in-clinic TCA chemical peel product, but you'll also see it referred to as a type of skin treatment you can book in for

- The treatment contains six acids including TCA (35%), four amino acids, Vitamin C and B12

- BioRePeel targets the look of wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, uneven texture, breakouts and scarring

- This chemical peel works to gently exfoliate the skin's surface by dissolving the bonds between old, damaged cells and promoting skin regeneration

- BioRePeel benefits include an almost instantly glowier-looking complexion, with cumulative results after each session

How a BioRePeel facial works.

Offerings and prices will vary from clinic to clinic; at FENN in Paddington, Sydney, my BioRePeel treatment consisted of four sessions spaced 10 days apart.

This cost me $1,250 total and included the in-clinic treatments, and a serum and face cream to use between visits.

Here's what to expect from your BioRePeel treatment, based on how my sessions went:

Step 1. A double cleanse with a nourishing balm cleanser, followed by a resurfacing cleanser to make sure your skin is properly prepped.

Step 2. The skin therapist assesses your skin to make sure you're good to proceed with the peel (which I appreciated, because I'm not trying to melt my face off).

Step 3. A gentle exfoliating peel is massaged in, then removed with neutralised gauze.

Step 4. An antiseptic solution is swiped over the skin pre-peel to remove any oils.

Step 5. The BioRePeel is applied in small dots over the face (forehead, cheeks, chin, lips, and nose) and massaged in until it reaches that ideal tacky texture.

Step 6. The peel is removed and replaced with a cold, damp gauze to calm things down (this part feels like heaven).

Step 7. You'll spend roughly 20 minutes under an LED light to boost healing and reduce inflammation.

Step 8. The session finishes with a hydrating serum and moisturiser, so you leave looking like you've had 10 hours sleep and a litre of green juice.

Between BioRePeel sessions, I kept my at-home skincare really simple:

The serum and face cream FENN gave me, a gentle cleanser, high-protection SPF every morning and a swipe of a chemical exfoliant weekly.

No extras. No fancy oils. No 10-step routines.

It felt like I was on a holiday from my skincare routine.

Does BioRePeel hurt?

BioRePeel is a zero-downtime type of skin treatment, but it can feel uncomfortable.

The peel itself has a burning sensation — it's tolerable. Kind of like the "hurts so good" part of a workout.

For me, each session felt a little more sting-y than the last. This is because the therapist may adjust the amount of peel product or length of time they leave it on for as your skin 'gets used to' the peel.

Cool, but will my skin peel off?

Straight up, each session comes with a full week of peeling.

Think sunburn vibes, but all over your face.

Your skin literally sheds, revealing new, smoother skin underneath. It's intense. Do not plan anything overly social unless your friends are chill with you looking like you're moulting.

My BioRePeel before and after results.

The first thing I noticed after having BioRePeel is that my skin type 'flipped'.

I've always been oily; constant shine, makeup sliding off, the works.

But overnight, my skin was dry. Like, tight-around-the-mouth, flaky-nose, haven't-had-a-sip-of-water dry.

They say trust the process, so I did. After four sessions…

My redness? Significantly reduced.

My skin tone? Neutral and even.

My acne scars? Faded like all my exes.

My pores? Visibly smaller.

My complexion? Genuinely brighter.

I've had compliments. Unprompted. From people I haven't seen in months.

One friend actually asked if I'd had laser. (I hadn't.)

I used to feel like I couldn't leave the house without makeup. Now, I go barefaced and feel fine. Good, even.

Would I recommend BioRePeel?

Yes. I paid $1,250 to peel like a croissant and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

But keep these caveats in mind…

You will peel, and it won't be pretty. You will feel a mild burn during the peel.

And you shouldn't go off-script with your at-home skincare. Follow your after-care instructions diligently.

But if you're like me and dealing with rosacea, congestion, post-pill acne, pigmentation, or generally feeling like your skin is working against you, talk to your skin professional about whether this treatment is right for you.
