It’s titled ‘Cosby: The Women’.
The trickle of stories from women allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted by comedian Bill Cosby became a stream of allegations in recent months.
Many of those stories involved an aspiring young entertainer lured by a mentor, a powerful man in his professional prime, and taken advantage of. And then being too afraid to tell of her ordeal.
It became difficult to tell the many similar stories apart.
But this New York magazine cover puts an end to all that.
Thirty five women who have made allegations against the comedian were interviewed and photographed for the magazine’s cover story.
“The group of women Cosby allegedly assaulted functions almost as a longitudinal study – both for how an individual woman, on her own, deals with such trauma over the decades and for how the culture at large has grappled with rape over the same time period,” the story read.
The women’s images, videos and stories are compelling.
And the empty chair featured in the bottom right hand of the cover shot – believed to be symbolic of sexual assault victims who do not tell their story – has prompted social media users to share their own tragic accounts using the hashtag #TheEmptyChair.
