A very clever human has uncovered the Big Mac special sauce recipe.

There are few things we will never know.

The eleven secret herbs and spices, for example. What actually goes into a bottle of Coca-Cola. What infinity looks like to the naked eye. Where the hell our snapchats actually go.

It’s a big list that will tragically only get bigger with time. Sorry.

But today, Warren Mendes over at delicious has shortened that list for you just a tad. Because today, he announced he had ‘decoded’ the Big Mac for all to enjoy.

Yes. Including the Big Mac special sauce.

Mendes said he put all his “rigorous training and position as food editor at delicious to good use, trying and testing and eating burger after burger in a bid to make this infamous burger at home”.

Want to make something a little healthier after you’ve tried this one? Try these dukkah crusted eggs with goats cheese and zucchini salad. (Post continues after video.)

How generous.

He also wrote that he believed he had found a “close to perfect recipe” to mimic ye’ old Big Mac down at your local Golden Arches.

So what’d he say? Check it out for yourself:

INGREDIENTS

400g beef mince
2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
2 sesame seed burger buns
½ white onion, finely chopped
¼ head iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
2 slices cheddar cheese
2 large dill pickles, thinly sliced

Big Mac sauce
1 cup (300g) mayonnaise
1 tbs gherkin relish
2 tsp white vinegar
Pinch of white pepper
2 tsp mild mustard
1 ½ tsp onion powder
1 ½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp sweet smoked paprika (pimenton)

And his method?

Mendes said for the Big Mac sauce it’s as easy as combining all the ingredients in a bowl. That easy.

And for the burgers themselves? “Season the mince with salt and pepper and form into 4 balls using about 1/3 cup mince each,” he said.

And finally? “After waiting half an hour for your food to settle, go for a jog.”

So you can thank one hard working food editor for helping you sleep tonight, rather than worrying about you were going to wake up in the morning and make yourself one of these.

Of course, we wish we thought of it first. But we also wish we thought of inventing wifi, and electricity first too.
