Missing bodies and a courtroom confrontation: What we know about the Big Little Lies finale.

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers for Big Little Lies season one and season two… If you don’t want to know what could happen in the final, look away now!

Big Little Lies will come to a (probable) permanent end next week and we are… stressed.

The Monterey Five haven’t been having the greatest time of late, with that whole ‘keeping how Perry died a secret’ thing, plus a bunch of other dramas in their very scandalous personal lives.

Next week’s episode, titled I Want to Know, will likely be the last hour we spend with the women – and Mary Louise – and there are a lot of questions we want answers to. But any hint of what’s going to happen has been a well-guarded secret.

But with just days to go, we’ve managed to pull together what we can expect from the final hour of Big Little Lies.

Perry’s body… disappears.

This we know for sure, after Shailene Woodley dropped a major spoiler on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week.

“This whole time [HBO have] said don’t say anything. So people ask what the show is about and you can’t give anything away.

“But they did say I could say this: In the beginning of the next episode, it’s a little bit of a cliffhanger, but all the women go to visit Perry’s grave and his body is missing.”

….Oh wow.

WHERE DID IT GO?

Celeste will question Mary Louise.

Mary Louise is a masterclass in passive-aggression and it's truly delightful to watch but like... she's also probably a sociopath with major skeletons in her closet.

The official HBO description for the finale reads:

"Celeste (Nicole Kidman) questions Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) about a tragic event from Perry’s childhood; Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) worries their lie is tearing the Monterey Five apart."

From this, we can gather that we'll begin not long after the ending of the penultimate episode, in which Celeste asked the family court judge to let her question her mother-in-law Mary Louise.

Judging from the promo, which shows Celeste looking very shocked while holding an iPad, she learns something BIG about Mary Louise's past.

Which means...

We will probably learn more about Perry's dead brother.

Remember earlier in the season, when Mary Louise told Celeste about the death of her other son Raymond, Perry's brother, when he was just five years old? Mary Louise said Raymond's death led to her divorce from her husband and broke the family apart.

Well... that certainly sounds like the "tragic event from Perry's childhood" mentioned above.

There's been a heap of rumours flying around about what happened to Raymond and basically all of them point to childhood Perry or Mary Louise having something to do with it.

If Celeste can get that out of Mary Louise on the stand, surely there's no way custody of Josh and Max can be awarded to their grandmother.

But then again, there's a 'blink and you'll miss it' shot of Mary Louise embracing her grandkids in court... so...

This show is a rollercoaster and we're getting motion sickness, but please don't make us get off.

A few other quick predictions and theories with little (or no) proof ¯\_(ツ)_/¯:

• Someone is going to fall off that damn bridge.
• Bonnie will confess.
• Bonnie's mother will die.
• Madeline will confess to Ed.
• Ed and Nathan will have a conversation that starts with "Hello" and ends with "NUT F*CK".
• Aquarium guy will be outed as an undercover cop.
• Renata, who will not not be rich, will continue to be a whole mood.

They certainly have a lot to cram into one hour. Roll on, Monday.
