Three Big Brother men were accused of disrespecting women. We asked one for his response.

After a painfully short season, Big Brother is set to lock its doors on its surprisingly good 2025 reboot.

There have been fights, fun, bonkers challenges, love stories, and a lot more bodily sounds than any of us bargained for.

But one element of the season that has garnered a lot of criticism was a trio of men in the house, who have been accused of acting inappropriately and, in one instance, of being 'disrespectful' to women.

Specifically, 67-year-old Jane accused the men of disrespecting women in a heated exchange. We spoke to recent evictee and 21-year-old barber, Vinnie, about the accusations he faced while in the house.

"It was very shocking. To start a sentence with someone saying, 'You disrespect women,' is really hard to hear, right? Obviously, that's very hard feedback," he told Mamamia.

"I disrespect women because I fart near women? It made no sense. I do not disrespect women. I love women. I was raised by a strong woman. I've been around strong women my entire life, and I hold women to such a high standard. I hold the women in my life to such a high degree."

Vinnie said he 'felt bad' that Jane had taken their behaviour that way.

"I actually felt really bad for her that she had taken it as all of us being disrespectful to her. I had a lot of empathy for her in that moment. I don't know if the camera showed it heaps… but I comforted her quite a bit," he continued.

"I don't think she handled herself very well at all in that moment."

Another problematic scene came off the back of Holly's farewell letter to Vinnie, where she called him 'fake' and 'performative' in the house.

In response, Vinnie mocked Holly in a diary room confession, saying "But you know what's hilarious? Holly has fake teeth and fake titties."

Yikes. Vinnie claimed that this comment was part of an inside joke he shared with the 31-year-old model.

"Holly and I had jokes in the house about her teeth and breasts about the fake comments. If I had my time again, I probably wouldn't say that sentence," he said.

Aside from the trio of boys and the Holly comment, there was a range of opinions voiced by other men in the house, Bruce and Michael, surrounding child-rearing, which were deemed 'sexist' by many viewers.

These opinions were only ever questioned or shut down by the women in the house, such as Mia and Coco.

"I was around a lot of comments in the house. Big Brother would be doing Australia a disservice if they didn't have people who shared all different political opinions," Vinnie said.

"That's their opinion. They own that opinion and that's who they are. I don't align with a lot of the opinions that people have in the house, but what I can say about the house is that when comments came up — like different political stuff and traditional values stuff — the conversations were held with a lot of grace."

Vinnie said that due to his profession, he's experienced hearing conflicting opinions he doesn't always agree with.

"The beauty about being a barber is that I cut 10 to 12 people a day for the last 5 years, and I've heard every opinion. I've heard every political view under the sun," he said.

"And ultimately, they are just a view. There's more to people than the political side. There's more to me than my political side. That's Big Brother — you get everyone.

"I don't agree with a lot of the stuff Michael and Bruce said, but it was interesting being around them."
