Big Brother ain't messing around this season, dropping a shock double eviction on Sunday's episode, which saw the departure of Jane and Mia.

The eviction show began with Jane being voted off, the oldest housemate who was added late as the 13th member of the house.

"I sort of had an inkling [I was going] because the young people, when we're outside in the garden in the pool, they're all yelling out 'Colin' and 'Connor' and I'm like, 'hey, I'm over here'," Jane joked in an exclusive chat with Mamamia.

Jane made a big impact during her short time in the house. Notably, she got into a tense war of words with the three young men in the house: Vinny, Colin and Bruce.

"I'd only just got into the house and I was sort of standing there talking to people or sitting down. Colin came running into the room. He did a flip somersault, farted over the top of me, and fell on the beanbag," she said.

"I'm asking for respect. You don't respect women… I've got sons and nephews, they wouldn't do that."

After voicing her concern that the men were acting 'disrespectful to women', Jane said she didn't feel heard by the three men in the discussion because of their pack mentality.

"I don't think they listened. It's a group thing, if it were an individual person, it is different… Colin was amazing. He was really sorry because they were in the group, and they would have all been revving him up. But we had such a good relationship. "

Jane doesn't have good things to say about one of the men in the house.

"If I saw Bruce [on the street], I'd quickly run the other way and hope he didn't see me," she joked.

Jane and Bruce got into an even more explosive argument the next day, when he told the 67-year-old she was "too old" to be acting so immature.

He yelled at Jane that she had "walked out there, you disrespected me but worse, you disrespected my mates."

It was… a lot, and Jane was quite shaken by the exchange.

"I thought I held my ground really well, and when I went into Big Brother afterwards, I sat down and he goes, 'Are you OK?' because I was blubbering [in tears]. I spoke to my son last night… he was so angry. He goes, 'That dude, that dude.' My boys didn't like him at all from the get-go," she continued.

"I can look after myself. I'm fine. I'm moving on."

While Jane might not be staying in contact with Vinny and Bruce, she formed close friendships with her other housemates, including Allana, Ed, Connor and Mia.

"We're going to South Australia to watch Ed play football and meet all his family. Mia doesn't live very far from me, and she works at Bunnings, so I'll be off there before Christmas to get some things, so I'll see her."

Speaking of Mia, the 23-year-old was shocked to be evicted in an elimination twist.

"I really thought I was safe and I could relax, and then it was like, oh, no, I'm going home. I've been sent packing. It was unfortunate it didn't swing my way," she told Mamamia.

One thing that Mia won't miss is the constant criticism she faced from her fellow housemates.

"I was given so much advice about how I should be and how I should act. I was told I was being too outspoken, being too loud, and annoying. I'm a very resilient person, but it can really make you get inside your head… I want people to like me and accept me, and I want to feel like I really belong," Mia said.

"People weren't giving me the time of day."

In one of the first episodes of the season, a debate about gender played out between Mia, Bruce and Michael. In the awkward chat, the men disclosed some archaic ideals about how a woman's role is to raise kids while a man should work.

"I was just like, 'Oh my God', I know that these views exist out there, but I just could not believe the words coming out of their mouths. This is not the 1950s," she continued.

"Where I come from, my mum is such a strong, independent woman, and that's how I see myself as well. I'm someone who wants to value my dreams and my goals. They just don't see women as these whole beings who want to achieve other things in life — other than just staying home, cleaning and having kids."

"They're having these expectations of what a woman should be and how she should act, and women being a side character in their own story."

During the discussion, Mia was spoken over repeatedly by Bruce and Michael, and being spoken over in the house was a common experience for the young Sri-Lankan-Australian woman.

"Getting spoken over was a very common experience for me in the house or people were just bored [talking to me]. They were just like, 'I'm just gonna leave this conversation. I don't want to talk about it anymore'," she recalled.

"It was those kinds of dismissive moments of not feeling like my voice mattered or not being able to say what I really wanted to say. I was just getting cut off. I think it showed me the kind of people they are, anyway."

When I asked Mia if she found the Colin-Vinnie-Bruce trio of men disrespectful, she agreed. "Yeah, for sure. They can get away with it because they mask it with, 'Oh, we're being so funny and people are obsessed with us.' Whereas I was being seen as too much, too loud, I need to tone it down. Whereas with them, they could do whatever they wanted. The rules were different," she said.

"There is definitely a popularity chain. I would say that I'm low on the popularity chain. In the ranking challenge, people were saying I'm the most annoying and I'm the least memorable."

One thing is for sure: Mia is anything but forgettable. She's a real one who will be sorely missed.

"I just hope that Australia was having fun at home, laughing or being entertained by me," Mia said.
