‘I tried the $30 serum that rivals a $500 facial.’

Imagine if you could call up your skin and ask it to heal faster, glow brighter, firm up and boost collagen — and it actually said, "Yes!" and got to work.

That's essentially what exosomes do.

Originally hailed as a breakthrough in Korean beauty clinics, exosomes became the go-to ingredient for serious skin regeneration, so much so that treatments featuring them were once reserved for high-end facials costing over $1,000 a session.

Now, exosomes have finally made their way into at-home skincare products, meaning you can experience the same advanced results without the luxury price tag. Pretty incredible, right?

But before I reveal the products worth trying, it's important to understand what exosomes actually are — and why they're being called the future of skincare.

Firstly, what are exosomes?

Essentially, exosomes are teeny tiny particles that your body's cells naturally release. They act as messengers by carrying important information, telling your skin to do things like heal faster, produce more collagen and act younger.

Why are exosomes good for the skin?

When it comes to skincare, exosomes are actually harvested from stem cells and are used with the sole purpose of regeneration. They're basically a repair serum on steroids.

They're loaded with skin-loving ingredients: collagen-stimulating goodies, anti-inflammatory molecules, brightening proteins and peptides that literally tell your skin to repair itself.

The result? Smoother texture, firmer skin, faster healing, less redness, fewer dark spots and a stronger barrier overall.

What is an exosome facial?

An exosome facial usually starts with a treatment that opens up microchannels in your skin — think microneedling, RF needling, laser and chemical peels. Once your skin's nice and prepped, the exosome serum is applied so it can sink in deep and get to work where it's needed most.

What you'll notice is faster recovery, minimal downtime and better results that last longer.

Of course, like so many of the best beauty innovations, exosome facials first gained traction in South Korea. Dermatologists there started using them post-laser and microneedling to speed up healing and enhance outcomes.

Naturally, the rest of the world caught on, and now you'll find exosome facials pretty much everywhere — including right here in Australia.

That said, they're not exactly budget-friendly. Depending on the clinic, treatment type and how many sessions you book, prices can range from around $400 to well over $1.5k. Yep, not ideal.

BUT… you don't have to fork out a small fortune to get the benefits.

Exosomes are now popping up in at-home skincare formulas, meaning you can reap the rewards of this regenerative magic from the comfort of your home.

And, because part of my job as a beauty writer is to test products so you don't have to waste your money, I've trialled a bunch of exosome skincare options on the market — and narrowed it down to the best of the best.
