'This moisturiser is the only thing that keeps my sensitive skin hydrated in the colder months.'

This autumn started off unseasonably warm, but it's getting frigid and my skin is not coping. At least, it wasn't until I turned to my absolute hero of a moisturiser which seems to be the only thing keeping my face from flaking off all together.

I moved from Sydney to Melbourne a few weeks ago, and the shock of no longer being able to rely on humidity to keep my skin moist and bouncy has left me struggling.

I've always had combination-to-dry skin, and winter poses a challenge every year for me because it makes my face feel tight and scaly (what a horrible image).

Factor in the fact that I'm prone to breaking out into hives and other reactions for seemingly no reason, and you'll start to understand that trying new skincare products always comes with a bit of anxiety for me.

So I've turned to Fresh Beauty's Rose Deep Hydration Balancing Emulsion — a moisturiser I've been using for close to a year now.

This emulsion is in-between a cream moisturiser and a gel. It's light, easily absorbed, gently scented and leaves your face the tiniest bit tacky — not enough to be a sensory nightmare, but just enough that your makeup has something to hold on to. In some ways, it reminds me of an aloe vera gel you might wear after a sun burn, but much more creamy and luxe.

It's actually designed to work like a pore-blurring primer that also keeps your skin hydrated under makeup which can be a bit drying, especially in the colder months.

I love a skincare product that has multiple uses, so this is a winning factor for me.

The best part is that it's really good at combating problematic skin — I've personally found that it can restore hydration overnight. My flakiness usually resolves itself after a few days of consistent use, and in general my skin texture has become smooth and bouncy.

Its price point is slightly on the higher end, at $72, but you get 100ml and a tiny bit goes a really long way.

I use mine pretty much every day in autumn and winter, and probably every second or third day in the warmer months, and I am yet to finish my bottle.

But don't just take my word for it — the 808 reviews on Sephora give this moisturiser an average of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
