Some people swear by mascara. Others get a thrill out of finding a new foundation.

Me? I'm a bona fide expert in lip products. Specifically, tinted lip balms, tinted lip oils, creamy lipsticks — anything to give my naturally skin-coloured lips the natural rosy tone I wish I was born with.

I could write a dissertation on my search for the perfect berry pink, cherry red lip product that offers a decent amount of pigment, enhances your natural lip shape, doesn't need to be touched up after coffee and actually hydrates your lips rather than drying them out.

But that's not what today is for. Today is for sharing a lip gloss/stain/oil hybrid so good, I graciously accept compliments whenever I wear it.

Rest assured, this product would feature in my aforementioned lip product dissertation. And the best bit? It only costs $20 (or $9.99 on any given day at your local chemist).

So, let me tell you about the NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip in the shade Newsfeed.

I first came across this product on TikTok because my algorithm is trained to deliver me exactly what I want: romantasy book reviews, weeknight dinner recipes, Tate McRae concert snippets and beauty recommendations.

I recall someone on TikTok recommending NYX Fat Oil Slick Click in the shade Going Viral as a 'dupe' for another of my favourite lip products, Hourglass' $66 Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in Slip.

Sadly, that Hourglass dupe didn't live up to the hype for me, but it was there, standing in front of the NYX shelves at my local Chemist Warehouse, that I decided to take a chance on the NYX lip product I now wear almost every single day.

Maybe the best thing in my work bag right now.

I'm calling it: This NYX lip oil is the ultimate everyday lip product.

It delivers the sexy shine of a lip gloss (without any stickiness), the long-lasting moisture of a nourishing lip oil, and the colour payoff of a lip stain that leaves a lovely wash of colour to ride you over between reapplications.

The large doe-foot applicator is the perfect size; not so massive you'll end up with product down your chin, but big enough to make swiping this lip on without a mirror super easy.

But more than all of that, I'm obsessed with the shade Newsfeed.

Don't let the packaging shade fool you. This raspberry shade suits so many complexions; apply a quick swipe of gloss for a sheer 'your lips, but better' wash of colour, or layer to build up a more pigmented look.

Just me, loving myself sick wearing the shade Newsfeed.

I honestly feel like a 17 out of 10 when I wear it.

But so good is this particular shade, several of my colleagues have purchased it after seeing it on my desk.

My only gripe is because this lip oil is so juicy, I find the product builds up on the sides of the tube and can get a bit messy when closing. It's annoying, but nothing a quick wipe with a tissue can't solve.
