'The setting spray that helped my makeup survive 100 per cent humidity and pouring rain.'

Last week, I was lucky enough to be living my best life in Singapore for a little holibobs.

My makeup, however, was very unlucky as it clung on for dear life trying to battle the hectic conditions of multiple types of liquids — humidity, sweat and rain (a sexy image… I know).

I didn't realise how much my face was "struggling" until my first day in the city.

I got back to my hotel, looked at myself in the mirror and realised my makeup was completely gone. The only evidence left was my eyeliner travelling its way down to my cheeks, making me look like I'd been crying for the past eight hours (and not the happy tear kind).

Luckily, I not only came to Singapore prepared but I came to experiment.

As a sweaty, oily downright messy girl, I have one saying — "In setting sprays we trust."

As a setting spray aficionado, three have been my absolute favourites for some time now.

They're the sprays that I'm constantly recommending and re-purchasing. As proof (to no one other than myself), I took all three sprays with me to Singapore to see if they could withstand the weather and keep my makeup in place.

Spoiler alert: They did.

If you've made it this far in my rant, congratulations. If you just scrolled down to see the sprays… wow. It's fine, I get it. Make sure you add these to your cart immediately.

The best setting sprays for humidity.

e.l.f Power Grip Dewy Setting Spray, $24.

I was a bit sceptical about using this in Singapore. It's been one of my ride-or-dies here in Aus as it not only keeps my makeup in place, but it gives my face a nice dewy set, making me look hydrated 24/7.

However, because of Singapore's humidity, I did not need help in the shine department (like, at all).

Interestingly, this little guy still held up and my dewy-ness was not overpowered at all. It held everything together and was the perfect choice during the evenings when I would wear slightly more makeup than I would during the day.

I would also pair this with the e.l.f Power grip primer as my base— the dream team.

Milani Make It Last Matte Setting Spray, $24.99.

Milani have three settings sprays— original, dewy and matte. As mentioned before, I'm an oily girl, so in the summer months, I lean heavily into the matte spray of theirs.

Expectations were high for this spray. I wanted to test if it was able to keep that matte look while taking on the hot weather and thunderstorms. Surprise! It did. My hair however, definitely did not… No comment.

Surely this suggestion doesn't come as a surprise. This black bottle with purple writing is EVERYWHERE and with good reason. This is the first setting spray I ever tried, and it's the one that I've had the longest (and most stable) relationship with.

It just gets the job done. Similar to the two above, this made my makeup last all day and night. I feel like the Urban Decay setting spray has been most people's go-to right from the get-go. However, taking all three of these with me and having success with them all showed me that there are probably many more affordable options out there that provide the same results.

Happy setting!
