'I'm searching for my wedding day perfume, so I asked 9 beauty experts what scent they chose.'

In news that will surprise literally no one, I'm getting married very soon. I talk about it once every three seconds - so JUST in case you've (somehow) missed it - I'm currently deep in wedding planning mode.

And while there are a bunch of Very Important Things that are currently quite pressing and need to be decided on ASAP - the food selection, beverage packages, music, etc. - the beauty editor in me can only think of one thing. What perfume am I going to wear?

Because it's a big decision. Really, it is.

Y'see - scent is such a powerful (and personal) thing, and I often find whatever I spray on myself sets my mood for the day. So, I really want to make sure I make the right choice.

And because I can't stop sticking my nose into other people's beauty cupboards, I decided to ask my fellow beauty experts at Mamamia what they wore (or are planning to wear) on their wedding day.

And guess what? They actually told me! Bless their little hearts.

"I wore Amouage Honour Woman, and my husband Rich wore the matching men's version (Amouage Honor Man, $499 for 100ml). 

"It was a new fragrance to both of us, so we were able to associate wedding memories with them. We still have the bottles and save them for special date nights!

Diptyque Do Son, $169 (50ml EDT) - Kelly McCarren, Host of You Beauty.

"I wore Dosun by Diptyque, and it's still one of my all-time favourite fragrances. I went into the perfumery at Mecca in the Sydney CBD and was helped by a lovely lass who straight away handed me Dosun when I told her I liked 'white flowers but not too floral'. It was perfect, and I didn't even need to sniff other options."

Tom Ford Rose Prick, $335 (30ml EDP) - Tamara Holland, Head of Lifestyle and host of What Are You Wearing?.

"I applied a small spritz of Tom Ford Rose Prick to my lace sleeves and behind my hair before heading down the aisle. Musky-sweet and delicate, it's quite a sensual scent (not to mention v boujie!) so I only pull it out for special occasions now. My husband wore Tom Ford Oud Wood, $385 (30ml EDP) which is up there with my favourite smells in the world. Ooft."

"My husband-to-be bought me Le Labo Thé Noir for my birthday and I love it so much. Whilst I'd love something different for my wedding day to remind me of that specific moment, I have a feeling it'll be something from Le Labo - while expensive, they're the most beautiful, unique scents and last on the skin for so long with just one spray."

Gucci By Gucci EDP (discontinued) - Sharon Hunt, You Beauty Host.

"My ‘something old’ was my late grandfather’s name bracelet, my ‘something new’ was a diamond pendant from my husband and my ‘something blue’ was my late grandmother’s sapphire bracelet. 

"So, for my ‘something borrowed’ – I asked mum if I could borrow her perfume. She loaned me her bottle of Gucci by Gucci EDP, which is a chypre floral scent that I’ve always adored on her. I spritzed it on for the big day – and of course, she wore it too. 

"And in true mum fashion, after the wedding, she insisted I keep the perfume bottle as a memento. (But she probably regrets that now because the fragrance was inexplicably discontinued a few years ago!)."

I tend to favour more masculine boozy scents but always knew for my wedding I wanted something that felt summery, joyful and optimistic that was a lighter, feminine scent and felt iconic - so of course, who doesn’t want a little Chanel?
