'I've watched all the Netflix Christmas movies and these are the 10 best ones.'

I believe there are two categories of people: those who have Christmas movies thrust upon them and those who do the thrusting.

I am the latter. I've always loved Christmas films, beginning with the formative '90s films like Home Alone and The Santa Clause, all the way up to the '00s rom-comristmas trend (yes, I just made that up) with Love Actually and The Holiday.

But then in the mid-2010s, Netflix went and created a whole new genre of seasonal films: the Netflix Christmas movie.

I must say it started out rather ridiculous.

Sure, A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch trilogies were a bit of fun and served a purpose, but would you actually go back and watch them again? Hard pass!

Over the years, the streaming platform has produced some genuinely great Christmas films. I should know — I've watched every single one of them.

So without further, these are my absolute faves to add to your weekend watch list through to New Year's Eve.

Imho, this is BY FAR the highest quality Netflix Christmas movie. Like, this isn't just a good holiday film, it's one of the better rom-coms made in the past 10 years.

Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey star as Sloane and Jackson, two singles tired of holiday dating drama. They make a pact to be each other's platonic plus-ones for every holiday celebration. Of course, what starts as a convenient arrangement turns into real feelings as they spend more time together.

The stellar cast is rounded out by Kristin Chenoweth and Frances Fisher.

Let It Snow.

This charming Netflix holiday rom-com follows several intertwining love stories on a snowy Christmas Eve in Illinois. Think: Love Actually but for teens and with less sexual harassment and body-shaming.

The cast includes Isabela Merced as Julie, who meets pop star Stuart (Shameik Moore) by chance, while Kiernan Shipka plays The Duke, whose best friend Tobin secretly pines for her.

The story also features Liv Hewson as Dorrie, a waitress navigating a secret romance with a cheerleader, all culminating in an epic party at the local Waffle Town. Joan Cusack adds a random edge as a tin foil-covered snowplow driver offering her wisdom.

Love Hard.

The romanticising of catfishing aside, this is a very fun watch!

Love Hard stars Nina Dobrev as Natalie, an LA dating columnist who falls for a guy on a dating app and flies to surprise him for Christmas.

Plot twist: she discovers she's been catfished by Josh (Jimmy O. Yang), who used his friend Tag's (Darren Barnet) photos.

What starts as a pretty cooked stunt by Josh unfolds into a sweet story of unexpected love, family chaos and one scene where Natalie suffers an allergic reaction that needs to be seen to be believed.

The Knight Before Christmas.

Okay, we need a little whimsy these holidays, and what's more festive than a medieval knight traipsing around a small American town?

This rom-com focuses on Sir Cole, a 14th-century English knight magically transported to present day Ohio. He meets Brooke, a science teacher with a jaded view of love, after she accidentally hits him with her car.

Starring Vanessa Hudgens as Brooke and Josh Whitehouse as the time-travelling knight, this delightfully absurd Christmas tale sees the pair falling in love while Cole navigates modern life and a mysterious quest.

It's giving Kate & Leopold but with a festive twist. And as usual, Hudgens proves she's one of the most mesmerising leading ladies in the Christmas game.

Single All The Way.

Come for the A+ cast and stay for the cute rom-com.

Single All The Way features Michael Urie as Peter, who convinces his bestie Nick (Philemon Chambers) to pose as his boyfriend during the holidays to appease his family and avoid their judgement.

Things get complicated when Peter's mum (Kathy Najimy) plays matchmaker with a handsome trainer. Of course, the enigmatic Jennifer Coolidge steals the show as Aunt Sandy, bringing her signature camp style to this feel-good holiday flick.

Our Little Secret.

I haven't forgotten the Christmas films that came out in 2024.

The best of the bunch is Lindsay Lohan's rom-com Our Little Secret, as she plays Avery, who's spending Christmas with her boyfriend's family when she discovers her ex Logan (Ian Harding) is dating her boyfriend's sister.

The pair must manage an awkward holiday weekend while hiding their past from the family's overbearing Southern matriarch Erica, played brilliantly by Kristin Chenoweth. Expect plenty of chaotic humour, family secrets, and one particularly loose scene in a church.

Dash and Lily.

I'm aware this is not a movie but this Christmas series is too sweet to pass up.

This charming holiday rom-com follows teenagers, the cynical Dash (Austin Abrams) and optimistic Lily (Midori Francis), as they develop an unexpected connection through a notebook they pass back and forth inside a bookstore in New York City.

The pair trade dares and share their lives as they grow closer. With support from Dash's best friend Boomer (Dante Brown) and Lily's brother Langston (Troy Iwata), this series is a wholesome time.

Dash and Lily features an impeccable soundtrack for those who don't want Christmas cheer shoved down their throats.

Home For Christmas.

Yes, it's another series, but believe me: it's worth the extra time commitment and there are two seasons awaiting you.

Home for Christmas follows Johanne, a 30-year-old Norwegian nurse played by Ida Elise Broch, who tells her family she'll bring a boyfriend to Christmas dinner. With just 24 days to find love, she embarks on a whirlwind dating adventure.

The charming series features Felix Sandman as the younger Jonas and Gabrielle Leithaug as her quirky best friend Jørgunn, delivering a fresh take on holiday romance across six 30-minute episodes for each season.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.

This list would be incomplete without a couple of kids' films to watch with the little ones through December.

This Christmas musical follows legendary toymaker Jeronicus Jangle, played by Forest Whitaker, whose life takes a dark turn when his sneaky apprentice Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key) steals his prized invention.

Years later, his bright young granddaughter Journey (Madalen Mills) arrives at his shop, rekindling his creative spark and helping him rediscover the magic of invention through a special creation called Buddy.

Klaus.

Saving the best for last? Perhaps! This is a delightful children's flick that became an instant classic when it debuted in 2019.

Klaus offers a twist on Santa's origin story. Jason Schwartzman voices Jesper, a spoilt postman sent to the frozen town of Smeerensburg, where he meets the mysterious woodsman Klaus (J.K. Simmons).

Together with teacher-turned-fishmonger Alva (Rashida Jones), they transform a feuding town into a place of joy, accidentally creating Christmas traditions along the way.

You can stream all these movies right now on Netflix.
