I know what you're thinking. A red lip for Christmas? Groundbreaking.

I'm a fan of red lipstick all year round, but if there's ever a time to whip one out, it's in December.

In theory, red lipstick with a glowy base and fluttery lashes is a piss-easy festive makeup look.

In reality? There's a bit of admin involved to ensure it looks great and lasts all day.

Watch: The tinted lip oil that always gets me compliments. Post continues below.

Well, that's usually the case. But not since I found my go-to long-lasting red lipstick.

I've tried so many longwear red lipsticks that smudge down your chin after eating, get all over your teeth, feel dry and crusty, or leave you with weird lip-liner look after an hour or two.

But I trust this lipstick with my life. Read on for all the details, plus all the photos to prove this lippie's elite staying power.

Introducing Holme Beauty Lip Lock — currently on sale for $29.40 (RRP is $42).

You Beauty co-host Kelly McCarren recommended this on the podcast a few months back, and I have to agree with her — it's unbeatable.

The Aussie brand says this red lipstick offers full colour coverage, no transfer and the ultimate high-gloss finish; no touch ups required.

I've worn it to Christmas parties, weddings and while on honeymoon, and even to the office on my first day back at Mamamia; the stakes don't get much higher.

It comes in two shades: Grace, a fire engine, blue-red lipstick shade that looks striking on cool-toned complexions, blondes and rangas like me, and Frida, a deeper, romantic red that warmer and olive-toned complexions and brunettes will love.

You can apply it with a lip liner for a super sharp, defined lip, but I find it lasts just fine without one.

Not only is this liquid lipstick ridiculously easy to apply and genuinely comfortable to wear for hours, it was designed to last through coffees, a great feed and vigorous chats.

The 'elastic' formula almost melds to your lips and moves as your lips move to avoid that dry, cracked feeling. It is also maleable, so you can refresh the colour by pressing your lips together throughout the day.

Does it stay absolutely perfectly? No, because you'll only get that from a hardcore (and uncomfortable to wear) liquid lipstick. But when I wear the Holme Beauty lipstick, I don't have to worry about whether it looks decent and has stayed on my lips.

In conclusion, this is the only red lipstick I'll be wearing this festive season. I suggest you do the same.
