'These sandals are so versatile, I wore them every day for a month and no one noticed.'

A while ago, I was sucked into a sandal vortex when Mamamia's fashion contributor, Tamara Holland, wrote about the best minimal summer sandals to wear all summer long.

And boy did I underestimate the impact that would have. And just how much I really did want to wear those sandals, all summer long.

The sandals in question are the AERE Crossover Footbed Sandals, $140, with a linen finish. The crossover style was new for me, previously stuck in my millennial mule slides phase.

I first met them in a beige colour but, when I saw them in black, I just knew they had to be mine.

I started wearing them everywhere (and getting lots of compliments) and before long they had replaced most other shoes in my wardrobe.

I love a challenge, so I gave myself one: wear them every day for a month to see how many different outfit combinations I could make — and whether anyone would notice.

So I did and nobody noticed. 

It was as if the sandals took over my entire wardrobe.

BS (Before Sandals), I wouldn't give much thought to what I was going to wear on my feet until that morning.

But it's as if they gave me a newfound purpose. Each night I would think of how an outfit might team with the theme: my sandals.

For work, I paired them with mini dresses, jeans and monochromatic outfits.

They can be both dressy and casual. And as a wide-foot girly, they are both comfortable and mask the fact that I do have broad feet. 

Can we really survive with fewer shoes? Because after one month of wearing them everywhere, I've proven Carrie Bradshaw wrong after all. You don't need to be "the woman who lived in her shoes".
