Beautiful Mamamia readers, it’s that time of week again.
Let’s share the best and worst aspects of our weeks! I’ll kick us off with a few complaints and awesome moments too.
Worst
The worst aspect of my week is entirely self-inflicted: my horrific cooking abilities have been causing me a bit of grief.
Living solo in Sydney, while interning at the fantastic Mamamia office, I’ve been trying to save a bit of coin by cooking at my apartment. Alas, this always ends in a very questionable meal and some angry neighbours after my fire alarm inevitably goes off.
I’ve spent the weekends practically sprinting to good cafes to compensate for the week’s culinary mishaps, eating delicious brekkies and lunches. My waistline and wallet may not be thanking me, but when in Sydney, right?
Also, whilst trying to doze off the other night, a rather annoying mosquito was buzzing around my ear. I tried to ignore it, and I eventually got to sleep. Eventually I woke up with it hovering above my ear and landing my face. In a sleepy haze, I slapped it into my face, and woke up covered in dead insect. How wonderful.
Best
The best part of my week in Sydney? The weather.
Now, I know most Sydneysiders would perceive the week’s inconsistent weather as not ideal, but for a Melbournian…Wow. I’ve actually been able to trust the weather forecasts.
I spent the weekend in the sun. Sure, some days it has rained, but in a refreshing “summer rain” way. In Melbourne “summer rain” is simply not a thing. A typical summer’s day in Melbourne? Wind, rain, humidity, freezing winds, cloud followed by burning sun, finished off with a patchy and unpredictable evening, making fashion choices, hair styles and the night’s plans impossible.
Last night when I was out to dinner with a fellow Melbourne woman, it started to rain and we grinned at each other, relieved that an unpleasant temperature drop didn’t accompany the downpour.
