Best and worst bits of the week

What were your best and worst bits of the week?

Winter has officially begun and we’re nearly halfway through the year. I usually take stock around this time to think about all the things I want to achieve and begin making a list. The list may never get looked at again but it makes me feel slightly better and more in control.

Here’s a quick wrap-up of what we’ve been talking about on Mamamia this week:

Along with many Australians we were absolutely horrified to learn about the live cattle exports to Indonesia.

We were baffled over the outrage about Cate Blanchett in an advert for carbon tax and got involved in the controversy over a certain bus shelter ad which you can see here.

We discussed the use of the word “meow” in the Senate, and looked at one woman’s attempt to get workers home in time for dinner.

We also asked these questions – Do men really delude themselves that they get hotter as they grow older? Would you name your baby Like? And how exactly are youngsters ingesting their vodka?

We discussed character building, shared some financial advice, learned how to support a friend going through depression and read about one woman’s startling admission about loving her children.

Now let’s talk about what’s been happening in your week – the highs and the lows, the good and the bad. I’ll start…

.

Best: It was my birthday yesterday. Being knocked up means this year was a more subdued affair, no celebrating in the usual way of consuming copious amounts of champagne and cocktails for me. I was quite delighted to walk into the Mamamia office yesterday to a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ complete with balloons and cupcakes. I was also surprised to get so many birthday cards in the mail, yes real cards. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge stationery fan, my favourite was this homemade card from my five-year-old niece.

Worst: I can’t seem to stop eating junk food. This is compounded with guilt because I think this is a time where I should be eating super nutritious food to assist my baby with brain development and the like. Bizarrely this is probably the most unhealthy I have ever been, I’m doing virtually no exercise and I can’t seem to get back on track. Would love some suggestions from the MM community, what are you eating that’s healthy and tasty?

Over to you – what were your best and worst bits of the week?
