'I just found the perfect linen set for summer, and it's only $52.'

I vaguely remember a time before sets were a thing.

It was a dark time; a period in history I do not care to dwell on. Because sets are approximately everyone's favourite thing.

Find me a woman who doesn't say, "I love a good set!" when a matching top-and-bottom combo comes up in conversation and I'll… well I don't know what I'll do because my flabbers will be completely gasted. Because I don't know anyone who doesn't love a matching set.

One of the current trending sets that I've been keen to try lately is the corporate-ish waistcoat and trousers look. I've seen it everywhere and I love it — it's chic, it's effortless, it says "I'm a put-together kind of gal". But while I've tried a few on, I just haven't been able to find the right fit.

You see, I'm a pretty casual girly, when it comes down to it. I do like to get dressed up for a special occasion, but corporate's never really been my style (in the office or othewise). And tailored-waistcoat-and-trousers definitely counts as corporatecore in my books.

So while I appreciated this sleek style, I couldn't quite make it feel right for me.

Enter: a very cute Best&Less linen set that puts a relaxed spin on the tailored set trend.

And at a very, very reasonable price.

Best&Less came out with a sweet little linen co-ord that combines a structured pant with a modern twist on the waistcoat. The result? A look that dips into suiting but is totally suitable for summer nights.

It's giving elevated casual, effortless cool-girl — without the $200-plus pricetag you'll find on similar sets at shops like DISSH and COS.

The Best&Less linen blend waistcoat features a tie front, à la the Ganni top that's gone viral and been duped by *checks notes* everybody, everywhere — you know the one. It's another trend I've been eager to try (two birds! One stone!).

Apart from the $22 price tag, one thing I love about this top is that it doesn't feel cheap. It's double lined, and not at all flimsy or see-through, which one might expect from the price point.

The fit is true to size, if not slightly on the larger side, but I went for my usual size 14 and had room to move.

The top would be cute enough on its own, but of course, we're here for the matching sets, so let's get to the pants. Which, by the way, are only $30, and are oh! So comfy.

The linen fabric is light, AKA perfect for summer, and the legs are long. And yes, I know, I know, Gen Z insists on wearing their pants at that awkward length that's not a true crop and honestly just looks ill fitting (sorry! But you know I'm right). But as a millennial, I like my pants touching the ground and I'm not ashamed to admit it — and these trousers do exactly that.

Again, these pants are fairly true to size, and while they have a zip and button fly, there's also elastic in the back, which I'm begging all pants to have from here on out please?

Plus, it goes without saying that sets reign supreme, because they give you double the wardrobe options.

The top and pants look great together (duh, they're literally born for it). But I also love the wide-leg linen blend pants with a simple black tank or crisp white tee tucked in; and the top pairs so well with denim on the bottom for Sunday pub lunch vibes.
