Everything Belle Gibson’s brother has said about his sister.

Australian wellness influencer, Belle Gibson, built an empire by falsely claiming she cured terminal brain cancer through alternative therapies and healthy eating.

Her story inspired Netflix's drama series Apple Cider Vinegar, starring Kaitlyn Dever as Belle.

A documentary has since been released on Netflix about the baffling case, titled The Search for Instagram's Worst Con Artist, which actually first aired on ITV in 2024.

The two-part documentary featured interviews with Gibson's family members, journalists, and former friends who helped expose her fraudery.

One part that stood out was the interviews with Belle's brother, Nick Gibson, who spoke transparently about his sister's cancer scam.

"Belle is my baby sister. If she did have cancer, why wasn't I informed about it?" he asked in the two-part special.

Nick touched on some of Belle's claims about him, including that she was the primary caregiver in the family's household and Nick was autistic.

"It was very shocking. She said a lot of hurtful things about the family. I'm not autistic, she made that up," he said.

Before her death in 2017, their mother Natalie also confirmed that Nick did not have autism.

Nick opened up about his relationship with his sister in their early years together.

"We had a perfect relationship when we were growing up. We were really close, we looked the same… a lot of people thought we were twins," he said.

However, he noted that as they both grew older they 'drifted apart' and ended up having multiple falling outs. He added that Belle and their mum's relationship was "on and off" and "wasn't the best."

Nick suggested that Belle wanted expensive materials like makeup that their family couldn't afford.

"I didn't like the way Mum was treated," he said.

"Belle can be very aggressive and very violent with her words."

Ahead of the documentary's release, Nick told the Daily Mail how he felt about his sister in light of her scamming multiple charities and families out of promised donations.

"The things she's done to those families… it's fraud. I think she should be locked up, spend some time in prison and have a bit of a think about it because I don't think she realises what she's done to them," he said.

"I shouldn't be saying this because I'm her brother but what she did was nasty. Some prison time would give her a wake-up call."

In another interview last year, he spoke about his true feelings for his estranged sister after she made accusations about him that were proven untrue.

"I don't like that hate word, but sometimes I feel like turning around to her and saying, 'Belle, I hate you'," Nick told 60 Minutes in 2024.

"I hated myself and I didn't want to be around. I was shy, placid and I didn't like to be out in public just because of things she said."

After Belle's deception was exposed in 2015, she was fined $410,000, which remains unpaid as of 2025.

"She knows what she's done and said, it's completely wrong, it's embarrassing," Nick said about the looming fine.

In 2017, Nick shared a disturbing story about when their mother Natalie was dying, claiming that Belle stole jewellery from her dying mother's body.

"Mum had jewellery before she passed away on her body, and then when I went back to visit Mum at the hospice, it was gone," Nick claimed.

Back in 2016, Nick spoke about his response to her viral 60 Minutes interview.

"I was sitting in the lounge room and it came on and I was shocked, I was thinking to myself, 'is that even Belle? Is that my sister?'" he recalled.

The trauma that Belle inflicted on the people who have never been paid their donations is something that still weighs heavily on Nick.

"I've got a heart. If I had every single family she's hurt in front of me right now, I'll be saying sorry to them," he told 60 Minutes.

"If I had the money, I'll give it back to them."
