Ah, celebs. We like to watch them and read about them and talk about them, but mainly we like to laugh at the awkward situations they find themselves in.

It’s therapeutic for us.

As we near the end of the decade, we’ve been doing some reflecting.

How much have we grown as people?

What have been our biggest accomplishments?

Did Lady Gaga really wear a meat dress in this decade?

So many thoughts, so many feelings.

To show just how much reflection we’ve done, we decided the put together a ranking of the most awkward celebrities moments of this decade. Because sure, it’s important to look back at your own achievements, but it’s also important to watch a video of Robert Pattinson making up a lie about a dead clown.

14. Jennifer Lawrence fell over. And again. And again.

JLaw is definitely the most clumsy person in Hollywood and we love it.

In 2013, she nearly face-planted as she climbed the stairs to accept her award for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook.

At the following year's awards she tripped again on the red carpet and nearly took a friend down with her. That's fair.

Actually, searching 'Jennifer Lawrence trips' brings up countless other moments too.

13. Kylie Jenner's Handmaid's Tale party.

Blessed be the fruit?

In June 2019, Kylie Jenner surprised the world (and definitely stumped Margaret Atwood, who never asked for THIS) when she hosted a Handmaid's Tale themed party, decking out her house in Gilead flags, red drapes, “praise be vodka”, “under his eye tequila” and provided guests with red robes and white bonnets like the handmaids in the series wear.

It was... a little lot tone deaf, especially as the body autonomy of women is still a worldwide issue and this autonomy is currently being taken away in a number of US states.

12. Ariana Grande was nearly decapitated by angel wings.

Ariana Grande's performance at the 2014 Victoria's Secret fashion show (RIP) was overshadowed by the fact she was almost taken out by the wings of model Elsa Hosk and in the words of Grande herself, it was awesome.

Plus, it provided us with one of the greatest memes of the decade, in our humble opinion.

11. Kristen Davis' on Sunrise.

Morning TV regularly provides awkward moments, and Kristen Davis' appearance on Sunrise in 2016 was one of the most uncomfortable.

Firstly, all Kochie and co wanted to talk about was Sex and the City, and peppered her with questions about the show (which ended 12 years beforehand), which Davis stoically answered.

Then Sam Armytage and Kochie threw to a clip of her in character as Charlotte York in a scene in which she suffered explosive diarrhea.

“No, no, no, no, no!” Davis protested.

Davis, who was in Australia to present a keynote speech as an ambassador for the United Nation's High Commissioner for Refugees, was then asked to reprise her role as Charlotte in a very awkward Sex and the City skit with co-hosts Sam Armytage (in a blonde curly wig), Edwina Bartholomew and Natalie Barr.

And she... really didn't want to.

"I don’t know if this is a great idea, frankly," she told them. "No offence, but you know… you know… you’re very brave."

She then expressed her distaste about the whole thing on Twitter with the ultimate burn, replying to then-Today show co-host Lisa Wilkinson that next time, she'd love to appear on that show.

Yikes.

10. John Travola gave Idina Menzel an alter-ego.

Who could forget last year when John Travolta introduced Frozen's Idina Menzel as Adele Dazeem at the 2014 Oscars? It quickly found itself in Oscar’s history books as one of the most awkward faux pas of all time.

Then, the Academy knew how much we loved it and decided to recreate the moment by having John and Idina present together the following year. This involved a lot of face touching by Travolta. It was gloriously weird, and he very wisely let her pronounce her own name.

9. Robert Pattinson's circus lie.

We present: The most unnecessary yet fascinating lie of the decade.

Speaking to Today show host Matt Lauer ahead of the release of 2011 film Water for Elephants, in which he played a circus hand, Robert Pattinson essentially made up an entire story about witnessing the death of a clown at the circus.

When Lauer opened the interview by asking whether Pattinson had ever dreamed of running away to the circus, Pattinson responded: "The first time I went to the circus, somebody died."

"One of the clowns died," he added.

"Are you being serious right now?" Lauer responded.

"His little car exploded. The joke car exploded on him," the actor replied.

"Seriously. My parents had to – everybody ran out. It was terrifying. It was the only time I've ever been to the circus."

Only... a week later, Pattinson admitted that he had made the entire story up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"I said those things. But I actually made the whole thing up," he told a reporter, when asked about the ~infamous clown death~.

"It’s coming back to haunt me. I said it on some show. It was really early in the morning the day after the New York premiere. Someone asked me what my experience with the circus was and I was like, I have nothing interesting to say. I don’t know why I said that!"

It was so weird of him.

8. Kim K's short-lived musical career.

You know how some things are so bad, they're good?

Kim Kardashian's attempt at a musical career was not that. It was just bad. So bad.

In 2011, Kim released her song Jam (Turn It Up) and instantly regretted it. It was, to put it nicely, terrible.

"If there’s one thing in life that I wish I didn’t do… I don’t like it when people kind of dabble into things they shouldn’t be. And that I don’t think I should have. Like, what gave me the right to think I could be a singer? Like, I don’t have a good voice," Kim said in 2014, and we applaud her self-awareness.

7.  Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner of Australia's Next Top Model.

You guys, we love when the wrong winner is announced. Like, love it in a 'oh my god this is so unfortunate, we feel so bad, but also lol' sort of way.

AND THIS WAS SO GOOD.

While Kelsey Martinovich celebrated winning 2010's Australia's Next Top Model (a.k.a a car, a New York modelling contract, a $25,000 ad campaign, $20,000 cash and the cover of a national magazine), Sarah Murdoch's jaw... dropped.

She brought her hand to her mouth, started tearing-up and was left speechless because... Kelsey wasn't the winner. She'd announced the wrong person.

She then had to interrupt Kelsey's acceptance speech and inform that um, sorry, Amanda Ware was the winner.

• Steve Harvey announcing the wrong Miss Universe winner

6. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard vs. the Australian government.

Remember when Barnaby Joyce was best known for threatening the dogs of major Hollywood stars? That seems like a lifetime ago.

Johnny Depp and his then-wife Amber Heard got in hot water in 2015 during the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean on the Gold Coast, when the couple's two Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo were brought into Australia on a private jet without passing quarantine or getting the proper permits.

Joyce, then the Minister for Agriculture, threatened to have the dogs killed unless they were immediately removed from the country.

It was a lot.

Depp and Heard were fined $1000, but the most awkward part was their video apology.

For actors, they certainly didn't give a very convincing performance.

For years there were jabs back and forth, like that time Depp said Joyce was "inbred with a tomato" and Joyce described Depp as a "dipstick".

Good times.

Do you think Joyce wishes he could go back to a time where his biggest drama was an international fight with Hollywood stars? It sounds so simple.

5. The many times we had to wonder... What will Lady Gaga wear today?

4. Justin Bieber's... existence.

We tried to decide which Justin Bieber moment was the most cringe, but we... couldn't.

The time in 2017 he forgot the words to his Spanish verse in Despacito and just continuously sung the words 'Dorito' and 'burrito'? Awkward.

The time he challenged Tom Cruise to a fight for absolutely no reason? Awkward.

The time in 2010 he appeared on a Kiwi TV show and didn't know what German was? SO AWKWARD.

Then there was the time in 2013 he visited the Anne Frank Museum and wrote in the guestbook: "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a Belieber."

3. Kourtney Kardashian on Today Extra.

In 2016, David Campbell and Sonia Kruger were ignored... live on air... by Kourtney Kardashian.

During an interview, Campbell asked about Kourtney's sister Kim (who had only weeks before been robbed at gunpoint in Paris) and just... didn't answer.

"You should know that the people of Australia and of our show were very empathetic about what happened and very horrified," Campbell said, "so we were wondering, how is everyone going and how is Kim doing?"

"Um," Kourtney replied, looking off screen as a woman can be heard talking to her in the background.

"I'm sorry is there someone talking to you? I'm just wondering how Kim is doing?" Campbell said, repeating the question.

Then the interview was cut short and Campbell ranted about how she "blanked" him.

Kruger tried to tactfully wrap it up, saying "Anyway, we thank Kourtney for her time this morning."

2. Flume... Yeah. Flume.

If we had to sum 2019 up in one short video, we would present the short clip of Flume eating a butt on stage at Burning Man.

That is not a euphemism.

Flume, whose wholesome image you may recognise from that year he literally won everything at the ARIAs, uh, did that.

To recap, Flume was performing a set at the festival (where there is no running water so no... showers) when he saw a sign that read: Does Flume even eat ass?

In response, he just... did.

The DJ's girlfriend, actor Paige Elkington, posted an Instagram story of Flume 'eating' a butt which is widely believed to be hers. She quickly removed it, probably after realising she had just shared a video of a high-profile musician performing a sex act to her almost 100,000 followers, but it was too late.

It was already trending. It had instantly been saved and uploaded over and over again. You can watch it here if you so wish.

We watched it and now we feel weird in our... souls.

1. Kesha learned you should never try and hug Jerry Seinfeld.

Even thinking about this moment sends a cringey, awkward shiver down our spines so please, proceed with caution. You may want to sit down, and we would definitely advise putting down any and all hot beverages.

Rather than describe this one, it's really better if you watch it for yourself:

Yeah. Are you okay? We're... not.

In Kesha's defence, Jerry Seinfeld is an icon. We would hug him if we had the chance. But he doesn't exactly exude 'huggable', ya know.

Kesha took a chance and it backfired spectacularly, providing us the most awkward celebrity moment we can think of.

And... Yikes. We need a lie down after this.
